I agree with Doc though... I understand that our midfield couldn't make an assist to Pele in his prime. So we need to use width to create chances. But ffs, the midfielders could at least attack the box. Not only do they not pass the ball in the final 1/3, they're allergic to the box.

Benzema is decent as a target (strange to say that; he was probably to worst air player i had ever seend until 4-5 years ago)... but Isco, Rodrygo, Hazard and Vini are not. Don't mention Bale please as he's a non-factor.

When you think about it, it's a miracle we score as much as we do looool. Our fullbacks can't cross and our midfielders can't make a through ball.

I mean the goals against Valencia were pretty much miracles other than Modrics goal. Kroos goal will never happen in a high intensity match and Isco's was a simple rebound.

Modric's was class though

But yes, this situation with our forwards not producing enough goals is alarming

Official line up

Courtois; Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Mendy; Valverde, Modric, Casemiro, Kroos, Isco; Jovic.

Same as against Valencia

Valverde and Casemiro will be key to breaking up Atletis attacks and going shoulder to shoulder with their physical midfielders

Hoping Isco goes Discoing again and for the love of God Jovic. Just score a damn goal even with your ass I don't care. Get that ball into the net to get going

ZZ is doing the right thing by not subjecting Vini and Rodrygo to so much pressure from the start. Both have alot of improvements to make and it would be wrong to thrust them into the line up in a final and run the risk of them losing all their support if they have bad games

I have no clue where I’m supposed to watch this match. Looks like I’ll have to scour the internet for a shady, live stream that bombards me with pop-up ads.

Though I can't believe no channel in the UK is showing this. Sky Sport need to buy back LaLiga rights. This whole Premier Sport experiment has failed remarkably

To those of you who can’t/aren’t watching this match for whatever reason - you absolutely haven’t missed anything, so far. I’m struggling to keep my eyes open.

Skip the first half if you do end up watching it. It’s been a boring mess from both sides.

To be honest, even if the game was cracking and both teams were playing the best football in their existence, I still wouldn't tune in. That's how lowly I think of this trophy.

Still, and since Atlético is a club I despise with every fiber of my being, I hope we win.

Jovic is like a traffic cone.

our "best midfield in the world" is absolutely uncreative.

The only positives are Mendy, Isco, Varane and Casemiro.

I have no desire to wait a whole season to see whether Jovic might pick up some semblance of form. He has a worse workrate than Messi and Ronaldo combined and apart from turning over the ball left, right and centee and being on a whole other wavelength to his teammates and intensity of such a game he offers us nada. ZZ bettee starr using Mariano soon who'd be perfect for such intensity

Apart from the firsr 10-15 mins Atleti have offered nothing but neither have we. The defence are continuing their impressive form. Kroos, Modric and Isco need to start creating goalscoring chances soon

There were 4-5 times where Valverde and Mendy created great crossing opportunities... and they had nothing to aim for as Jovic was standing still.

I won't even mention Carvajal as his crosses are worse than Mendy's.

Forget crosses but defenders behind him intercept every pass that's made towards him because of his lack of fight and intensity. Get him out. I am getting tired of him

Well I mean that's one of his biggest strengths coming in... the air game. Even if he's struggling elsewhere, one would expect that he'd get lively when the ball is in a crossing position.

Agreed, Jovic is not doing himself any favors standing still. and it doesnt help that our midfielders bar Valverde have 0 creativity

Vini Rodrygo and Marcelo should be the subs

Yeah, I don’t know what Jovic has been tasked to do, but he’s not creating space for himself and he’s not seeing the ball at all. We’re not creating anything through the middle since we have no creative players, and the constant crossing clearly isn’t working.

Atletico aren’t creating much either. Their biggest chance came from Ramos passing the ball into the legs of Joao Felix who fired off a sloppy shot. Both sides are misplacing passes all over the pitch. It sure hasn’t been an entertaining half. That jumping girl in the stands is the only thing that’s brough a smile to my face, so far.

When Marcelo comes in unless we are winning, we'll start leaking goals

He should not come in and play such a high intensity until he is fully fit

Close from Jovic! He seems to be benefiting from these more direct attacks.

Damn it. Thought Valverde would definitely score that chance. Well done by Jovic again. Is he operating from the right wing now? scratch
