Rio Ferdinandinho wrote:United's performance against Burnley left Ferdinard furious as he declared the side doesn't reflect the money that's been poured into it and that the club itself is lacking any real sense of direction.

"You said £600 million has been spent on the squad out there...on what? I don't see it. I don't see that money," Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

"What has been brought? There's nothing there that suggests to me that this is laying down the foundations for the future.

"I'm sitting up here and if I'm honest, I'm embarrassed. It's embarrassing to be here. Not just about the team's performance but I don't see what's coming next, I don't see a pathway, I don't see a target being set on the wall and saying we're going to get to there. I just don't see it.

"Put today's result to one side. I'm talking about recruitment and the actual building of the squad, the foundations that are being put in place for this squad now to go on and challenge at some point, not immediately, be realistic in a couple years maybe, build that squad, but money has been spent willy nilly the last seven years - what's to show for it here?

"I don't see what's there. You can't defend this.

£600 million has been spent on this squad and the best players this season have been home grown talent. That speaks volumes about the recruitment. It tells you how shoddy it has been.

nothing but facts

need to gut club management, implement new people entirely at every level

3 weeks into 2020, we've lost 4 times already

I actually think your defense is the most reliable part of your team, now that Rashford’s out. Rashford has his limitations, and I don’t believe he’ll ever become an elite forward, but he’s the only forward that scores goals with some degree of consistency for Man United. Your midfield is depressing. Defense isn’t great, but I don’t believe it’s as bad as people make it out to be. Man United need a ton of new players, but getting those players will prove to be difficult when all other clubs think they can bully you into paying a premium for them.

Ole and general club management aside, it’s criminal how ghetto your squad players are. Throwing in an academy player every once in a while is fine, but fielding several of them at the same time, due not to not having proper cover for injury prone starters, is actually pretty sad. I suppose this is what Hans would call Schadenfreude. Pun intended.

Says a lot about this season's PL that Arsenal, who have won only 6 games so far, are only four points off 5th place. Laughing

Can't wait to see Leicester and Wolves in the CL next season.

United and Arsenal would make for interesting case studies in complacency and incompetence.

It was clear to me from the beginning that Ole was not a tactical genius. But he is a positive person and the players like him. I personally think United should stick with him for now. It is Woodward who should get the sack after 7 years of shambolic dealings. From the managers appointed to the player signed and let go, it is blatantly obvious that there is no clear direction United have been lead to. Moreover at the start of the season they let both Lukaku and Sánchez leave for peanuts and not sign replacements for them. Is it surprising that United are in this shit now? You could have seen it coming from the beginning of the season.

In all honesty Ole should take some blame too for being docile and not forcing the issue with Woodward or upper management. A world class coach wouldn’t have accepted this squad.

This season must be one of the shittiest seasons in the PL in a while.

This same horrendous Man United team are 5th in the league and still in CL spots contention. 34 points from 24 games which is like bottom mid-table form and 30 pts behind Pool who have two games in hand.

Tells you all you really need to know on just how bad the league overall has been this year.

People are looking at it all wrong. The EPl has not been poor this season it has been fantastic. What you are seeing is plenty of good teams taking points off each other.

It is one of the shittiest seasons in memory, so many big teams sucking at the same time. Teams will probably end up qualifying for Europe with some historically low points at the end of the season.
