I don't know who are the coaches at Rennes or their scouting network but it may seem they are top tier in both categories for some time.

All these midfield talents, but Matuidi will still be starting in 4 years. Deschamps.

RM his next destination?
Casemiro is young though, not sure Camavinga would want to rot on the bench while Casemiro plays 99.99% of every minute available

he is gonna be a box to box in a few years, he is too skilled to be a player that sits in front of the defense

Normally Madrid next summer, with a year left on his deal. Rennes did not want him to leave this summer so he is not renewing his deal.

Re: Edu Camavinga wonderboy
first two games of the season, he already has 1 assist, 1 goal, 17 years old. He looks great in the double pivot, taking more chances going forward this season than he did last year, they recruited Nzonzi for that.

So he is not a successor to Casemiro after all. Meh we have a gazillion CMs and a young B2B already. The search for a Casemiro successor continues

Re: Edu Camavinga wonderboy
I never actually saw him as any successor to Casemiro but someone who can play alongside him. In any case, still a huge fan of his talents and Madrid wanting to sign him makes the world of sense. He looks the part big time.

Re: Edu Camavinga wonderboy
He is 100% not a "Casemiro back up" lol. He is way more than that, and it's fuck to watch such a precocious player doing so well at the top already.halamadrid2 wrote:So he is not a successor to Casemiro after all. I think finding a mediocentro that is good at defending and has great ball skills is extremely difficult. You typically don't have both, but when you choose to play a 3 man midfield, that's ideally what you want.
We are still going to try signing Camavinga though, he is just too elite of a talent to pass up. The way i look at it is that he can help in allowing us to play with 2 midfielders if we want, as opposed to 3, which is something we are not doing extensively today.

Re: Edu Camavinga wonderboy
Thats all i was hearing last season how he was the natural successor to Casemiro. Now that, thats cleared up we should be focusing on getting a cover for Casemiro, not try to get yet another CM.
Look, I like talented players as much as the next guy but central midfield is hardly an area we lack quality in. I'd rather they go fishing in the French market for a RW

Re: Edu Camavinga wonderboy
As Nich mentioned, Nzonzi moved him up, which is great. For Rennes (and that's the key here), he's too good technically compared to the others not to get him involved in an advanced position. For a club like Madrid, maybe. He's not a DM. But he could play a lot lower if he comes.

Re: Edu Camavinga wonderboy
you make it sound like it's his fault for not being the type of player you had in mind lol.
we have plenty of options for RW already (Kubo, Brahim, Odegaard, Rodrygo, Asensio), we dont have a lot box to box players like Camavinga in the squad and we saw what difference Valverde playing in midfield made for us.
I am actually hoping Valverde can get more minutes deputizing for Casemiro this season. That's how he shined with Castilla initially.

Re: Edu Camavinga wonderboy
No. I'm saying that, at lesser clubs, players that end up playing lower once they move up... play higher because the lesser clubs need them to.
There were a lot of those in France such as (recently) Ndombele, Bakayoko, Kondogbia, etc.
I just hope he doesn't see himself as more a AM and forgets to play defense like some of the others. He's a B2B and CM. If he becomes a more forward playing player, it has to be proven way beyond just 2 games to start a season. Become great at what you're going to be the most valuable and useful at... and then bring in all the bells and whistles.
Just a word of caution on my part.

Re: Edu Camavinga wonderboy
Him and Valverde are perfect for 4231 double pivot and Odegaard is perfect for that AM role ahead of them
Just hope we don’t miss out on him as he’s probably the only young french talent I really rate lol (maybe not, I also like Saliba and Caqueret )

Re: Edu Camavinga wonderboy
Another 4-4-2 CM.
If the 2010s were signified for the rise of the goal scoring wide forward, then the 2020s will be known for the ball carrying CM.
Press resistant players with an engine who can carry the ball, but also lack that final pass, and are best in a midfield two rather than three.

Really? You don't rate Aouar, Kounde, Caqueret, Gouiri, Aouchiche, etc.? There's a TON of good talent coming up. Gouiri is the one to keep an eye on that is relatively unknown btw... he plays for Nice.

Boubakary Soumaré from Lille OSC - uhhh sooooooo good player i would to see anyone from midfield of our team go and have them replaced with him
should play in top EPL, or German club

Re: Edu Camavinga wonderboy
Soumare has been on the bench for Lille for months now. His reputation hasn't waved though, people dont watch Ligue 1. This may sound shocking but if you want to sign a player from Lille today, that should be Renato Sanches

i admit i dont watch ligue 1 not on regular basis atleast. i did watch CL games and he was the only player out there i liked most ; unless he had his drop of form or what not i feel like he can stil grow to live up expectations as one of the brightest talents coming out from france
soumare was valued at 40 million by lille but thats just their business model i guess.
i heard that he has done well renato but given how he had really hard time fitting in big club, we will have to see how he progresses.

I don't even rate Mbappe that highly, let alone Aouchiche or Gouiri:lol:
Kounde is another Lenglet level player
Caqueret and Aouar are legit though, I like both
Camavinga is the cream of the crop, we have to secure his signing and let him play at Rennes until 2022
He's at his best in a midfield two (4231/442) from the little I've seen of him, just as Valverde is. Odegaard is at his best playing behind the striker. If they develop properly, we are set in midfield for a decade. TBH, I prefer this midfield structure to the more static and flat Modric-Casemiro-Kroos legendary midfield, but we're a long way away from that
