Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
Little dissapointed with Lope tbh for starting Casemiro and Marcelo but I understand he wants to play the best team to get the best start in his reign

Might as well come here since cant find a thread on this game elsewhere
So Modric is not fit for this match or any other reason hes on the bench?
Should be a cracking game

Has new manager Lope been playing like this? I just see its a 4-2-3-1, instead with Modric u got now one more attacking player - four in total, feels like a very aggressive lineup.

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
New Atletico my ass, it's the same shit. I was lied to!
Anyway, nice half of football though it did fizzle out coming down to the end. Also, Dani Carvajal, phew, he has gone to the dogs. Nothing is working out for him, passing is shit, marking is shit and he and Bale look like this is their first match ever together. Oh and Casemiro is probably gonna be benched by season's end.

Good game for a supercup. Both teams playing very seriously. Soft defense in that first minute... but a shot from that angle should be saved.
Bale, Benzema, Asensio and Kroos were particularly good for us. Costa, Lemar and Rodri look dangerous for Atleti.
Now we see what the HT adjustments look like. you know Simeone is going to make some.

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
Liked our variation in play but we are far far far too passive on the defensive end. We need to press higher up. They always have a free player in the center.
Asensio needs to learn to shoot with his right if he wants to be amongst the best
Bale has been excellent and so have Benz and Carvajal. Varane really needs to learn to direct his headers to a teammate, jeez just copy Ramos ffs. They all go to the opposition players.
I would take out Asensio for Modric in the second half

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
Take out Isco for Modric IMO and Atletico are defending waaaay too deep to win this. They passed the ball all the way to the goalie like three times loool so I think that's their tactics
Simeone got this one wrong so far. J Lo twice the manager

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
Atleti always play like this (and France for that matter). It's not going to change. When the space opens up in the 2nd half, we have to be careful... that's when their tactics really work. France would tear teams apart on the counter in 2nd halves in the WC because the energy to transition back is no longer quite the same and there's suddenly space.
Let's see if Atleti can execute like that too. Hope not.

yeah, France is the most talented international squad out there imo. We're more talanted than Atletico + their tactics are not working either

But he's won countless of balls. You have to take the good with the bad when it comes to Casemiro

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
And i checked the stats Casemiro has 93% pass accuracy. So he hasn't misplaced passes but he's taking seconds too long on the ball. I blame that on fitness. He'll be fine after a few games

It's not his passing, it's his control under pressure!

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
The players playing the worst are all the ones I would have left out of the starting XI. Doesn't mean we would be in any better of a position, but I think Lopetegui made the wrong call with the line up.

I don't know when coaches will learn that we can never sit back as a team. We just can't
Marcelo needs to get his shit together but I blame Lope for playing him

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
Those were some legit stupids ways for Atleti to score 2 excellent goals. First, Ramos being an ass with Varane ridiculously casual to Dani who is just being an utter pleb. Atleti could have scored the winner in regulation time ffs.

I don't know about embarrassing, it's the Super Cup. We hammered Barcelona and they won La Liga by 14 points last season. Mistakes were made, loads of them and I hope Lope learns from it.
The more important match, as Tito mentioned, is against Getafe. 3 points to play for.

Most of these guys make perfectly great crosses for NT... and then they can't make a decent cross to save their lives for Madrid.

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
The unfit players really let us down. Bad decision, but an understandable one.
Atleti look scary ready to take on the season. They outran us and outplayed us.
We need to take a page out of their book and 1) get fit yesterday, and 2) gel asap. They had almost all of their new players featuring (that I can think of) yet all of the new guys looked like they had played there for years.
