As he should over a 38 game season City are better.
Don't care how much they've spent, they still aren't the favourites thus shouldn't be expected to win the league.
I don‘t expect City to be as good as they were last season, the excitement is gone, Aguero/Silva are a year older and not convinced the replacements can replicate what they‘ve done in the Premier League.
Liverpool should compete with the squad they have, unless they bottle it of course, but then Klopp should be blamed if a 300m squad fails to compete for a league title just like Mourinho and Guardiola himself got blamed.
Don‘t want to hear any kind of excuses for Liverpool or Klopp, they have to show up.
Agreed. They should up there pushing City for the title, make it hard work for them at the very least.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be expected to compete, just ultimately they won't win anything(unless they win a cup)

Imagine breaking the transfer record for a goalkeeper after boosting your midfield stocks only to say expectations are too high?
Only Liverpool would do such a thing

Yup, definitely a Pool thing to want to be a contender but not have the expectations of a contender.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion
people acting like pep got sacked and city sold 5-6 of there top class players. liverpool have not won a title in close to 30 years. city were and are miles in front of liverpool. please forgive us for not expecting to win the title from a team that most people are saying is the best team that has ever played in the EPL. funny thing is when england were doing well in the world cup and we dreamed a little we got shot down for it. now we are under playing the liverpool team we are getting shot down for it.

you were running your mouth last season about how if you plugged the holes in your team that you would compete
well you have and now you're complaining that there should be expectations on you like a coward

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion
It has been a while since I have seen a team make all the right moves in the off season, like Liverpool have done. For me, they are 1 signing away from being a true "no excuses" club. At the current moment, on paper they have secured at the very least 3rd place, and more likely second, so by default they are contenders for the title.
Also, I doubt, most fans are expecting City to repeat such a dominance. It is only natural to regress to the mean a bit more in the next season.

If Liverpool don't finish in the top 2 it will be a disappointment to be sure, besides City who can even compete with them?

CL finalists, best player in the PL, one of the best coaches, making class signings. Anything short of top 2 will be failure and everyone will see it that way.Unique wrote:we scraped 4th last season.BarrileteCosmico wrote:If Liverpool don't finish in the top 2 it will be a disappointment to be sure, besides City who can even compete with them?

Agreed, Coupled with the fact that Spurs have not improved, Chelsea and Arsenal have new managers and it's Jose's third season. Liverpool have no excuses if they don't finished top two.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion
liverpool can crush city. thats an easy 6 points. its not choking against small fry which Klopp needs to be concerned with. beating rivals means nothing if u cant win consistently against small fry.
I'll say it again. the epl this upcoming season is Liverpool's to lose. i expect them to win it with them having the best attack in tbe league and finally having a gk who isnt a little shit. no excuses.

Did anyone even open the article and read it? He's talking about winning the premier league and yes of course we can't win that.

That being said, I think we can finish second assuming everyone sits and performs since we have changed the entire midfield.

Mole and Unique are right. Pep is still there. The team is working. Pep almost never drops points in the league, and they'll walk it this season too.
Liverpool should aim for second, a cup, and another good CL campaign.

Manchester City are considering naming one of the training pitches at the CFA after Joe Hart to recognise the contribution he made to the club. Hart will also be celebrated when he returns to the Etihad with Burnley in October. [The Times] pic.twitter.com/6fh3wlKUIa

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion
Of course expectations are high at Liverpool and should be, too. Last season's CL finalists and then spent loads of money on the squad. Klopp absolutely has to deliver good results now.
That said, Firmino isn't the most ruthless striker out there and cannot start every game, either. After him we've got a hopelessly past it Sturridge and Solanke, who may be talented but not a lot can be expected of him yet. Maybe Ings if he doesn't get sold today, but the CF spot certainly could yet hamper us. Obviously we're expecting a lot of goals from Salah and some from Mané, but our season might still make or break on that center-forward spot.
Also, City are in such a good place player age wise that I don't expect them to get the champions' hangover. Jesus, Sané and Sterling should be just as motivated as last season and try and push themselves to new heights. I believe Aguero is declining when he scores fewer than 20 PL goals in a season. Silva and De Bruyne don't look like the sort of players to lose their motivation, either.
Frankly, Liverpool are a Firmino or Salah injury away from a possible disaster, City have much better attacking depth. They're definitely the clear favorites to grab another PL title. I'm not going to be disappointed in Klopp if he doesn't dethrone them. But he absolutely needs to have a good season overall with Liverpool after the cash he's had to spend.
