So who exactly is going to stop Real from winning CL next season?
-Bayern? Washed up semis team
-Liverpool? Luck of the draw
-Barca? Terrible team, terrible coach
-Juve? Don't make me laugh
-Atleti? Strong candidate with their stadium as the final, but they are losers
-City? Another viable candidate, Pep needs to splash 600m-800m to make it happen however
-PSG? Shackled by FFP, Neymar unhappy wants to leave, beta coach with 0 trophies, OUT
-Napoli? Maybe Ancelotti can get them going in CL, however they need reinforcements, too early to tell
-Roma? No.
-The Bundesliga teams that fnished under Bayern? No.
-Spurs? The strongest team probably, they've done it once, theycan do it again. They just need to apply pressure on them.
-United? Another possibility, Mourinho can exact revenge, if they get Bale and spend 1billion, its very possible
-Inter? Too weak a side, Madrid will crush them unless they get better players
Congratulations Real on La Fourteenthma

Chelsea? Possible, but they will need a huge mercato and Sarri needs to click
it's actually the opposite of possible
you forgot Valencia, finished just behind them this season
La Liga #1

No, that's it for us guys. We've done something that no other team will ever be able to do. EVER.
We set a legendary record that shall never be broken. This team will go down in history as one of the greatest teams of all-time.
We've done the impossible. Now, we'll sit back and focus more on La Liga and enjoy the legend that is Real Madrid.

No way we focus more on La Liga DoC... we always focus on CL first.

The OP tells you everything you need to know about the competition and how I was right that today's football standard *bleep* sucks.
People might not want to hear it but it's the truth, Madrid are the only team in the whole of Europe who actually live up to anything respectable.
The mere fact I'm looking forward to the WC when I've done nothing but deride international football should tell you everything you need to know about these "contenders".

Re: So who exactly is going to stop Real from winning CL next season?
There's more parody in NT football because of how the teams are structured obviously... so every team will have flaws and the competition is... more competitive.
In club football, you have 8 possible winners mostly: Barca, Madrid, Bayern, Juve... with a rotation of 4 others who now are Atleti, City, PSG and another. You will have an anomaly here and there like Monaco, Dortmund and Liverpool.
With NT, you have France, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Portugal, Belgium, England, Germany and Croatia who all have a good talent and can beat each other on any given day. The key is that the next group, Uruguay, Colombia, etc. can beat those top teams too.
It's not better football at the NT level... but the competition is more exciting due to more uncertainty with every game.

If they meet each other - Barca. 100%.
These two never meeting in the CL is essentially how Madrid was able to do the 4/5.

Yeah that's what I'm looking forward to, in the past I cared more about quality than competition but now I'm the opposite.
Funny how things change, can't see Club football changing any time soon though so this is it for me until the Euros which will probably be awful.

Really sad how true this is, one team out of the way and you get dominance.

@mole... i hate FFP and UEFA's "historical coefficient" bs. They're making club football noncompetitive because it's near impossible as a result of these two regulations for any new team to break into the top.
As if these elite teams didn't buy their way into becoming elite...

And this is based on how non-competitive the last several two-way ties and finals have been in clasicos?

Yeah I didn't say as much but this way more deep rooted than just what happens on the pitch.
It's too far gone now so I suspect this is how it is now, if not Madrid then somebody else.
I don't suspect we'll ever see a period of time without defending the CL as we did ever again.

I mean I'm not gonna deny you could beat them anyway, that would be stupid.
But it's pretty obvious based on the La Liga matches they are the only team who provide any sort of competition.

Barcelona are ironically the only team that could have beaten Madrid in all these years they won

Re: So who exactly is going to stop Real from winning CL next season?
that's true... i think the finals would be lot more fun if they were clasicos.... neither team would fear the other. As it stands, everyone else has an inferiority complex, whether they admit it or not, when they play us. That psychological edge is a big factor.

100%
It's like Madrid makes them nervous.
They feel that they need to score and when they miss a chance they let their heads sink because they feel Madrid can always come back.
That's what happens with great teams or good teams though.

Re: So who exactly is going to stop Real from winning CL next season?
How long did Milan's record of being the last team to go back to back last again? Was like 20 years wasn't it?
Genuinely think that's never happening again, I think that's why I'm so critical tbh.
It's sad really.

Re: So who exactly is going to stop Real from winning CL next season?
Tbh I don't think it's ffp it's more down to mentality of players. Everyone wants to luck out at madrid or barcelona. Even those that move to big money teams have their eyes on those two clubs. I mentioned the whole competition thing a while back. But it went against the "Suarez is the best striker ever" argument that people were making at the time so it seemed like just some old dude stuck on nostalgia

Re: So who exactly is going to stop Real from winning CL next season?
There's a lot of reasons.
Seedings, FFP, how money works at the top level creating an imbalance below them.
They all factor in, if you think about it with all these years of Barca, Madrid and others in the semi every year it was always likely someone would do this eventually.
Law of averages dictate that.

Re: So who exactly is going to stop Real from winning CL next season?
It's just strange that you create a free market economy for the elite teams... and then you apply socialism for everyone below them.
The elitism is unbelievable in the sense that Europe just lets it happen.
The only group that can break this are the players themselves as it happened with the Bosman ruling.

Barca have been in the semis once since 12/13 season aka once in the last 5 years. They have been non existent.

I obviously meant from when they were, it was obvious back then that eventually something like this would happen.
As much nobody neutral really wanted to accept it.
