Can anyone stop Germany from winning the WC this summer?
I don't see how any NT can compete with the squad they have. Their C team would probably be among the favourites as well.

Yes. Joachim Leow, as he always does.

Nigeria can, if they meet them in the last 16.
We've done better than them against Spain, so using that logic, we should beat them quite easily.

Way too much hate on here. They got undone by a set piece in the last WC and Hummels was the main reason they lost to Italy at the Euros. Loew has since dropped him.
They have by far the best young talent around at the moment eg Gotze, Meyer, Ter Stegen, Draxler etc
The likes of Ozil, Reus, Muller, Kroos, Gundogan, Boateng, Hummels are now seasoned vets and better players since the last major tournament.
Not only that but WC players such as Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Mertesacker & Neuer all remain in their prime.
I don't see how any NT can realistically compete with the high level of talent and depth they have in their squad.

Meyer, Ter Stegen, Draxler and Mertesacker definitely are very important...
Schweinsteiger, Lahm and Neuer are at the same level as 2012, so what's the argument?
Kroos, is he even a starter at Bayern? Not sure how you realised that he's better than 1.5 years ago.
And Ozil was coming after a better season, when he bossed it with Real, having won La Liga with 123123 points and showing great displays that season..
Solid arguments for Germany indeed.

1. Toni Kroos is a starter at Bayern; he was only benched for two matches. He's excellent, if you watch Bayern matches.Ion Creanga wrote:Kroos, is he even a starter at Bayern? Not sure how you realised that he's better than 1.5 years ago.

2. The German internationals at Bayern come from a historic treble plus the CWC - that would be Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos, Jérôme Boateng, Thomas Müller, (Mario Götze), (Holger Badstuber)...
3. Both Bayern and Dortmund players only recently defeated the top crop of Spanish players with Barcelona and Real Madrid

Re: Can anyone stop Germany from winning the WC this summer?
Kroos was equally excellent 1.5 years ago, and starter for Bayern. The German internationals were excellent in 2012 too, most of them were 5 minutes away from winning UCL, we all know the story..rwo power wrote:1. They defeated Madrid too in 2012.. Individually they're about the same level as 2012.. Non-german players such as Ribery, Alaba, Robben, Mandzukic were very important in UCL's succes too
And World Cup is not just about Spain... Brasil(AT HOME), Italy, Argentine, Portugal, Holland are strong teams... I don't see any team being favourite to beat Brasil away, but that's just my opinion.

The truth has been spoken. Also the LB situation may end up being a pretty massive issue. Also if Italy or Spain are met along the way.

Re: Can anyone stop Germany from winning the WC this summer?
Talent wise we should probably win it, but I'm pretty sure Löw will bottle it, I don't know which of our biggest strengths he will counter with bad tactics this time, but reducing our width and pressing game has been his chosen way of getting us to lose for the past few losses, so I reckon he'll take Müller off again, and have us sit deep, when we lose.
We'll win all group games, though.

Re: Can anyone stop Germany from winning the WC this summer?
I don't see an outright favourite for this WC at all
The first bracket is probably
Brazil
Spain
Germany
Argentina
But there's a number of other teams who can easily compete with them and cause 'upsets'

Many people mentioned Brazil and my question is why?
Here's a tip, Germany are twice better.

Beat Italy and Spain, both of who beat Germany. But of course, Confederations Cup results are irrelevant

Maybe because that's where the WC will be held? It's a massive advantage.
Germany do have a beast of a team though.

Re: Can anyone stop Germany from winning the WC this summer?
Euro 2008: It was Spain
WC 2010: It was Spain again.
Euro 2012: It was Italy
What was the underlining trend to all those loses: Joachim "Mother Goose" Loew laying his usual tactical egg bomb.
So who can stop Germany from winning the WC: Mother Goose Loew.
