Is it just me or have the vast majority of Chelsea's signings in recent years, even this decade, been funded by sales?
Is it just me or are Chelsea no longer trying to bring in the biggest stars, but instead settling for slightly lesser players?

Are Chelsea still a sugar-daddy club or just a big club that only spends what they make?

According to transfermarkt.de they have a combined net spend of around 80m for the last 4 seasons so yeah, you're right.

I don't know about wages though. But just going by transfer fees they are probably outspent by most PL clubs over the last 4 years.

They still make big signings but yeah kinda, it's all these scrubby kids they sign en masse, develop and then sell for 10m here, 15m there, it all adds up and helps them make marquee signings like Drinkwater or Barkley.
