So, Europa League tomorrow. Podolski derby. Biggest game in decades for Koln, apparently. Lots of rotation for us, which shows what we think of it.

Cech, Koscielny, Xhaka, Ramsey, Ozil, Welbeck and Lacazette all sat out training today. The likely team is:


Maitland-Niles, Willock, Akpom and Nketiah all likely to be on the bench, too.

It's not that hard to remember, nor to type, and applies to every instance of the Umlaut.

It's Juergen Klopp, Joachim Loew, Thomas Mueller. Not Jurgen, Low, Muller. It's just an instance of showing minimal, basic respect towards foreign people's names IMO. English press is regrettably not caring to do that.

I hope the club think of Europa League as another way to get back to CL, a lots less game and to some extend lesser opponents.

Pretty sure it'll be seen as another Mickey Mouse Cup. Especially when we get knocked out of R16.

We'll treat the cup with respect because we have a squad big enough to do that. The team we'll play against Köln will be strong, even though it's a rotation side.

We'll more than likely re-evaluate our priorities around January. We'll have a better idea of whether we'll finish in the top 4 or not and by then we'll probably know our opponents in the EL knockout stages. If it looks like a top 4 place is out of reach, we'll prioritize the EL like United did last season. All about that CL qualification.

See, that's what a rational manager who has his head screwed on right would do. Unfortunately, I strongly believe that it is no more the case for us. :sigh:
