having said that, getting mugged of nerman certainly sent their stock down. from the high tier elites to the low tier elites. Think even Juventus is above them now. I don't recall a summer where a club tries to talk their way into another clubs player and ends up losing one of their star players for their troubles.

A team with Messi in it, that also has Suarez, Pique, Busquets just recieved 220m euros to reinvest in a market where that can net you 2-3 world class players or 1 world class players and 3 extremely good players. If they can reinvest that well, I see that as a bigger threat to Europe than Barca with Neymar.

The issue with Neymar at Barca was never his individual quality which is one of the best in the world, but rather how he was never maximised playing second fiddle to Messi - replacing what he added to Barca is easier than replacing Neymar in a team built around him that takes full advantage of him.

As a Barca fan, I'm sorry to see Neymar go as he was genuinely a great team mate, but happy for him to lead his own team and get paid bucket loads of cash to do it.

THe end for Barca as elite club is near. Barca became truly elite with Messi, Iniesta, and rest of the Spanish core. these dudes are nearing the winter of their careers. how will barca replace messi?

Barca still have the best player in the world, one of the best attacking players in the world, a midfield that is probably just 1 player away from being fantastic and a defense that is good enough.

Definitely still elite, and still in the top 3 with Barca and Madrid until proven otherwise.

They were elite for a few seasons but they will always be in out shadow. Even in thier most successful era we have eclipsed them with as many champions leagues. They always talk about us and we don't care. It has always been that way.

Love the fact that Neymar and his father used the club for more money and then scrammed. The club is on a downward trajectory and it's a sinking ship.
