Most frustrating player: Guti v. Benzema
Benzema has played far better than Guti for Real Madrid to be fair. However, he's either brilliant or a scrub... there's no middle ground. And both versions of Benz last for months lol.
Guti on the other hand couldn't give a flying f about improving. He played based on which side of the bed he woke up that morning. He could be absolutely brilliant or utterly horrible. But at least his streaks of form were game to game as opposed to a prolonged Greek tragedy.
It's a tough call for me.

Re: Most frustrating player: Guti v. Benzema
i don't think its a good comparison. guti was never a starter, he only had maybe 2 or 3 years when he was a starter and one was cos morientes was always injured that year. if guti messed up, you're rest assured he was going to be on the bench in the next game. anyone who pinned their hopes on guti, who wasn't even a starter must be smoking something.

Neither, Form is temporary class is permanent for me.
Though I won't deny Guti's temperament decided whether he's world class or a sunday league player. He most certainly had bad games, but he was a genius in his own right when on his day.
Benz just needs to show personality.

Guti. Guti. Guti. And just one more time, Guti.
To me, Benzema was never that frustrating (not saying he was/is never frustrating. Certainly can be) and did way more good than bad. Guti, on the other hand, one can actually count with fair accuracy how much of a non factor he was over him actually performing to his abilities.
The last part is very important because Guti's ability is (to me) of the same level as Xavi's. Up to this day, we have yet to produce a player of his sheer footballing ability. Sure, we have bought outside to bring in but Guti is a Madrileno. Born and bred. Was at the club since he was 8. Went through C and B teams. Football came easy for him, maybe too easy actually. He didn't even try to have his own hairstyle, he copied Redondo at the time.
The Eternal Promise, one of the very very very few things Calderon got right.

Higuain was more frustrating than Benz. Sports what are you on?
Ramos deserves a mention here. World class but every now and then he does something real stupid that costs us a random game. Thankfully such occurrences have lowered over the years but I still think of the most recent El Clasico that this quirk of his will never go away.

Re: Most frustrating player: Guti v. Benzema
I don't think they're very compatible, in terms of comparing their respective qualities. I think Benzema is generally more reliable, since whenever he's in good or bad form, it seems to last over several games until he gets injured. Guti's spurts of form were so inconsistent, they sometimes only lasted 1/4 of a game. It was as if he got a sudden injection of morale or enthusiasm, where he would be jogging around the pitch like a lazy spectator, and then whimsically decide to get involved and start threading inch-perfect passes through what would previously seem like an impregnable defence. What I loved most about Guti was that, regardless of whether the team was playing well or not, it sometimes seemed as if his presence alone elevated the team's quality. I think Guti's potential decisiveness was second to none, but then again, he had a tendency to give you the impression that being decisive was a chore that he'd rather avoid. Often when Benzema doesn't play well, everyone but Chad can tell by his body language that he's not happy with himself. When Guti didn't play well, it looked as if he couldn't care less.

How was he more frustrating than Benzema? Higuaín's performances in the Champions League left a lot to be desired, and that's an area where Benz has always shone. In the league, though, both Spanish fans and the members of these forums were largely of the opinion that Higuaín performed far better than Benzema, who was being linked to several other clubs at the time. Híguain received the majority of votes in several polls, both on the internet and in Spanish tabloids asking which one of the two deserved to stay. I still remember how shocked everyone was when it turned out that Higuaín was the one who ultimately left the club. Personally, I was a bigger fan of Benzema at the time, but I clearly remember that the vast majority of fans thought that Piggy was the better performer.

Re: Most frustrating player: Guti v. Benzema
I lost complete confidence in higuain's abilities since that fateful Lyon game under Pellegrini. since then he has done nothing but disappoint me over and over and over again.
Do you remember why Real Madrid signed Benzema in the first place? We didn't need a striker to score in La Liga. Scoring in La Liga and winning la liga matches were of little concern. Especially when we have CR7. We needed a bit of extra firepower in the CL. and a little extra edge in it too.
Benzema was signed specifically for this reason. Had CL pedigree early and didn't shirk when called upon.
It is because of the CL we're back to the top of our game. The CL will always be our main priority. It is the pinnacle of european club football. We need only the best and higuain was not one of them. to be the best means performing in the cl. Surprised higuain left? I wasn't. I was expecting it. he had a lot of time to improve and he didnt. And Benz did his part in our triumphs of the decima, undecima and duo decima. he has since validated the decision to bring him in all those years ago.
and look what higuain did for juve in the final. nothing. signed higuain to win cl. ends up being dead weight. not receiving the ball? DROP DEEP DUMMY but oh wait he is a classic 9 so he wont. oh well.. napoli robbed juventus in that transfer lol. biggest robbery of the transfer market in recent memory.

Re: Most frustrating player: Guti v. Benzema
Not a valid comparison. Guti was a bench player his entire career except for 2 seasons and one of them was only because of injuries. He had great moments but also had times when he just didn't seem to be interested. However all bench players struggle to look good as lack of minutes can have that effect on your game.
With Benz, he started off poorly, improved enough to win starter job when Pepito hurt his back. It was then a couple of difficult years were neither impressed then they let go Pepito and ever since Benz being undisputed starter, not wanting competition appeared to be lazy and unenergetic, his fans always defending him giving countless excuses for his poor play and highlighting the few good moments he has had.
So to answer your question, without doubt, benzema has been the most disappointing player we have ever had. There are others that have disappointed, but no one with the obvious talent that he has.

Re: Most frustrating player: Guti v. Benzema
Is it possible to talk about benzema without the backhanded compliments? Take mbappe dick put your mouth already, cause news that he ain't coming sparked this thread.
no matter how the fans and media try you guys can't take anything away from him, he has shown up and as been a key player as a starter, the club benefits from his sacrifices just because some of you are too stupid to see pass goal numbers or the fact higuain is a choking scrub killer, and refuse to show this guys respect after all the stupid reasons, why he should be sold keeps blowing up your faces, all of this has never been about performances, trophies and consistency, its just pushing a narrative that was been proven wrong the moment the 10th cl was won, instead of admit your faults and eat crow, nope treat the guy like shit as soon as preseason starts because he needs to compete with falcao for no reason other than SALT, then next season its another player etc, the narrative is wrong and no amount passive aggressive bitching gonna change that.
Said it before and I will say as much time as it needs to be said, you guys don't know shit about cf play and keep exposition yourselves, stick to hyping kids you lot barely seen play cause you guys excel in speculation.
The only thing frustrating about benzema, he is wasting his career out of loyalty towards flo and flo loyalty to Benz cause stopped him from having a much better career at manu, they have made history together so why doesn't flo just let him leave ffs.
Guti is alright very talented player with a bad temper and poor work ethics he has underachieved that it, he ain't no starter material kinda like isco.
