My favourite part is when he identifies which Barca players are most likely to cheat.
Interesting read. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Jose Mourinho appreciation thread
He really is RG.
Mourinho what we grew to hate (but same time like) was all a front and that was apparent for a reason, and a rather justified one, if we are speaking objectively.
Mourinho as a pundit would have no need let alone an agenda and we all know his footballing mind is amongst the best and so far he has turned out to be like Wenger, a calm and fantastic pundit with some tremendous insights.

I respectfully request the staff to not let any kind of association between Jose Mourinho's name and Manchester United in this forum's threads' titles.

Say what you want about him, but the man is by far the best pundit even if part time. Finally someone having a clue about football speaking on TV

Re: Jose Mourinho appreciation thread
Really good vid, feel very sympathetic towards him. You can tell how his footballing style developed from his youth, almost as if he's trying to prove to the world and to himself that you don't need to be primed from youth with intellect to succeed. Less classrooms, more pitches. The antithesis of Cruyffian football.

Re: Jose Mourinho appreciation thread
Arsenal is a loser club. That being said, Mourinho hasn't been much of a winner in recent years mind you, and it seems like he struggles with this new-gen of players.
Can't see him turning the likes of Bellerin, Guendouzi, and Lacazette into players with a winning mentality.

I'd just like to remind everyone that 5 years ago, Mourinho told us:
-Pogba is a virus and is not a team player
-Shaw lacks footballing IQ
-Rashford cannot be a main striker
-Martial is a lazy and moody player
Incredible, and to think everyone was piling up against him then.

Re: Jose Mourinho appreciation thread
As much as it pains me to admit, he was correct on Ndombele and Dele Alli too. Although those were both more obvious.
His ability to rate players remains decent to be sure. His inability to get the most out of his players (especially the ones he goes to war with, who he actually needs at the time) remain questionable at this point in his career.
As far as Tottenham goes, Conte has come in with roughly the same players and managed to get the players and the team playing significantly better and with a significantly better team identity. Mou doesn't look to be doing too badly over in Rome though. Conte has a better points/game than Mou and that's me comparing Mou's full season to Conte's coming in midseason. The football is gorgeous compared to the dreadful football being played during Mou's tenure as well.

And to this day, his statement holds very true. Finishing 2nd with this United is indeed the greatest achievement in his managerial career.

Re: Jose Mourinho appreciation thread
I don't like the aesthetic of his football, but it is VERY effective in comps like this. It represents the sharpest pivot I've seen in this club. We're moving away from a certain aesthetic being our theme to just getting the win at all costs. And we wear this new look rather well.
And now he's got a summer to bring in the players the Friedkins will only be too eager to give him. This was just a taste of what he can do as this squad is still largely a patchwork of the one constructed by Monchi for EDF.

Re: Jose Mourinho appreciation thread
Tbf I think this level is suiting him just fine. No superstars to butt heads with and more soldier-type players that will fall in line and buy into his brand of football. Getting Roma to become a regular top 4 side once again and making deep runs in the CL should be his main goal in the coming years.
