Re: Patrik Laine
McDavid probably currently, but Laine has better, almost freakish potential and has developed during the season well. Laine actually has the best ppg ytd of all NHL, 1.42.
Laine is still raw physically, yet he had the 2nd hardest shot in all-star game and was the 5th fastest skater. But when he actually fills that 6'5" frame, learns couple first steps, with his skills it could be scary good.
One of the remarkable things also is, that Laine leads the league with best shot conversion ratio, yet has the longest average distance in goals.

Re: Patrik Laine
60 points, still 2 goals from goals leader.
33. Nashville
27. San Jose
Would've been a great winner.

Re: Patrik Laine
Aside from obviously McDavid. Matthews and Laine have to be the two other stars who will lead this talent pool as I give Matthews the slight edge though Laine will be a phenomenal goal scorer throughout his career. If he can be less reckless and also stay injury free. No limit to what he can produce.

Re: Patrik Laine
Matthews was being sheltered big part of the season playing with 3rd line, and now that he's playing clear 1st line, his production has come down. Laine has 5 points more in 5 games less, although he will have 8 games less because of the concussion. But this point Laine is in lead for the Calder. Here's telling statistic how dangerous Laine is in the eyes of the opposition.
Laine can practically score from anywhere, which makes him priority number one for opposition, and which then gives space and time for teammates.

Re: Patrik Laine
Laine became the highest scoring European teenager of all-time in NHL, beating Kovalchuk.
Laine 69+50=119 points
Kovalchuk 67+51=118 points
Jagr 50+58=108 points
Also
Still 18 games to go.

Re: Patrik Laine
After 4th career hat-trick Patrik Laine has scored more goals (74) than anyone else since entering the league.
All this talk about Laine with 6th-most goals by a teenager all-time is pretty great, but adjust for era and…

Re: Patrik Laine
With 76 goals tied Gretzky and Bellows for teenage goal scoring. With adjusting to era it's already completely different level. Still 14 games left.
