Re: Lucas back in trainings next week
tbh i would have prefered he took a longer rest.
1st its for him: we all know he will be one of the mosts used players this season so a good rest cant only be a good thing for his body.
2nd: those pre-season games & few PL games he would have missed would have meant more chances for a few of our many midfielders to try prove themselves more to Kenny (thinking of Aqua, Meireles...)
but i guess he feels he dont need more rest and wants to show a good attitude.
good

His ability as a player has changed then. His reputation has always been solid. Your statement just makes it seem like he didn't train hard when he first arrived.

oh I didn't mean that, I meant like he went from having the reputation of a crap player, to the reputation of a fantastic player

I get what you mean. However, I must say that I never thought he was a crap player. Ever since he was bought, he's been played outside his natural position. This has been evident any time he has had the freedom to move forward.
Either way. Glad to know he's back and willing to train hard. Hopefully we see that consistent improvement yet again this season.

Re: Lucas back in trainings next week
but as of today, CDM has became his natural position tho, right?poolsupporter wrote:Ever since he was bought, he's been played outside his natural position. This has been evident any time he has had the freedom to move forward.
cause its true as a youngster at Gremio he was an Att Mid/B2B mid, and at Pool there is the odd games where he played good when played in that position (vs Atleti & Lille),
but tbh, today he doenst seems to have the creativity, shooting ability (big time!!), the ability to make more adventurous passes, the vision....to play higher in the pitch (as a AM/B2B).
he has been turned into a good CDM (given that his qualities today are good placement, interception, short range passing....)
players can develop and change.
but if up there you were saying that today he is still being played out of position, thats not true imo.

I was just commenting about his first and second years with us. He is now a full on DM though. And he does a great job at it. Back then however, he was often hated on when played out of position. I do feel he still makes some great passes. He doesn't have the range of passing Alonso or even Charlie Adam have, but his vision is good. He's had a couple of assists in his time with us. His shooting is on the weaker side.
