Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 3
Like I said in the last game, Fellaini was a much bigger issue than Rooney.

Mourinho learned his lesson by dropping Rooney and Fellaini, will Wenger learn his with Xhaka and Perez? I somehow doubt it.

TBF this is massive luck playing its part too(rooni ). Yes we have been good but Lester have been shocking. Actually feeling sorry to see Ranieri like that on the sidelines. Hope they turn it around quickly. That defense of their's is done. Its shocking someone like Simpson is still starting for them.

They have been shite but you have played exceedingly well regardless. Kinda wish that Zlatan volley from Pogba's lofted pass went in.

Embarrassing from the champions. They will probably be happy to finish mid-table this season - but with performances like this they'll be lucky to avoid the relegation scrap.
Looks like United are getting their break. Their next match is Stoke at home and that should be another win with what Stoke's form this autumn.

Yeah I opposed you back then. Props to you for showing light.
In his defense Fellaini was playing decently, and he will work well for a lot of goodish teams as a combating mf.

He was but it was imbalancing the team as a whole. No point having a decent performer if the others are not performing because they don't fit together.

Leicester were vulnerable to set-pieces last season and they still are. This year they've gone to Anfield and Old Trafford and shipped four because shock horror a backline of Morgan, Huth and Simpson couldn't replicate their once in a lifetime form from last season and teams have wisened up to the long ball to Vardy.
I feel they have the firepower to still finish in the top half but nothing more.

I don't think having Fellaini instead of Herrera on the field in this game would make much of a difference. Herrera has been pretty invisible, has hardly had to put in a midfield masterclass.

Doesn't matter, it frees up the rest of the team. Fellaini forces Pogba to be a lot more defensive and isn't a very good passer. Herrera is positionally excellent, a great passer and allows Pogba to play with more freedom as does Mata compared to Rooney.
It doesn't really matter how well Herrera plays, him just being there brings more balance to the midfield and makes the team play better. You are simply thinking of how well the individual plays instead of the team, they wouldn't have played like this with Fellaini in the team.
The whole team is just a lot more fluid and balanced, which doesn't happen with Fellaini.

It's funny as an outsider because it seems over the past 3+ years whenever MU or England drop Rooney, they seem to play better- Yet he inevitably keeps crawling back into the starting XI.

Totally agree mate.
And Art lol Herrera's been many things but not certainly invisible today. Its not his natural role or the role he's used to playing, the holding deep lying CM. Yet he's done more than decent and the confidence is building and with increased game time its only going to improve from here on. Heartening to see his positional discipline. Always staying back and keeping it ticking. Against better oppositions though, we might need a Carrick/Schneiderlin too by his side to help him out. He alone might not be able to handle.
