It's not going to get any better than that. Newcastle better cash in. Now or never.

Roma pushing hard to sign Jack Wilshere on loan. Not a done deal but #CPFC & #AFCB pessimistic as they've had no update since yesterday #AFC

Both Hart and Wilshere going to Serie A would be amazing.
Stoke in for Bony, not sure they need him. Such an awful transfer from Man City, btw.

Doesn't this feel like a fairly quiet deadline day? Most of the big teams aren't making any moves.
The biggest transfer story is Sissoko and Wilshere on loan.

Sissoko to Spurs.
Gnabry to Werder Bremen.
Not much else.

Chelsea are looking at bringing in one of Ogbonna, Abdennour or David Luiz.
Also currently being linked to Sissoko.

There haven't been many big moves pretty much whole summer.
Im sure everyone must've been surprised at how quiet Madrid went in this window.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day - Finished
Yep, the lack of Real Madrid action is surprising, especially with the transfer ban looming.
Maybe Zidane has convinced Perez to be reasonable.
Maybe they were indeed prized out of their one preferred Galactico siging by Utd, and they deem noone else worth the fuzz. Which would be fair enough.
Maybe they've just tried for unattainable targets like Alaba, Aubameyang and Lewandowski.
Maybe they hoped Chelsea would let Hazard go after the catastrophic season.
Or maybe they thought Hazard isn't worth paying crazy money for.
In any case, it's a bit surprising, even if from a squad perspective they've addressed their one glaring problem (backup CF) and they are more than fine for the rest.
They'll likely profit from the stability.

There were a couple great deadline days in the early noughties, I think those are fooling people into thinking it should always be dramatic. Normal service has resumed since then, it's kinda obvious that really big deals are rarely left to the deadline day. 90% is out-of-favour players having to decide where to go to get games, that's never going to be massively exciting.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day - Finished
tbf it's pretty stupid to make deals on deadline day that can be made earlier.
You get less games from the player you're buying. You get no time to integrate them in preseason.
It's just worse in every regard.
It makes no sense, which is of course also why Bayern are rarely involved in any of this nonsense

Re: Transfer Deadline Day - Finished
A rumor is that... Zidane actually doesn't want movement due to the ban. Why? There's more uncertainty with bringing in new players then the players you already know. If a new player doesn't work out, you can't replace him with the ban. As such, Zidane would rather compete with the team he knows and which he believes can win trophies even though flawed. He only wanted superstar replacements if one could be had... as he would clearly provide an upgrade with little downside.
The devil you know etc.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day - Finished
depends Hans... if a player is being overpriced and there are no takers, you can get him at a discount at the end of the window.
90% of the deals I've been involved with were still being negotiated until the quasi-last minute. Just how it works. People tend to only come off certain demands if they have their backs against a wall.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day - Finished
Thing with Luiz is that he's quite a great bench player tbh. He can play CB, DM and even CM. He's good on set pieces and can even take set pieces. High energy guy too.
PSG refused Chelsea's offer according to both l'Equipe and RMC. So unless Luiz wants to force the issue, he's not going anywhere.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists there's no need to improve their squad on Deadline Day.
Perez, known for splashing hundreds of millions of euros in previous years on the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez, has limited his spending to just a £25million buyback of Alvaro Morata from Juventus.
"We have won the European Super Cup and the first two games in La Liga," Perez said.
"We have a spectacular squad and it is impossible to improve."

Re: Transfer Deadline Day - Finished
Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has spoken exclusively with Sky Sports News HQ about the prospect of signing Jack Wilshere.
“Jack is a player that became available yesterday, so it would be silly not to get involved in that,” he said.
“Obviously there’s a lot of clubs that would like Jack, and I guess we’re one of them. But we’ve done so great in this window, it really would be the icing on the cake if we could get him across the line.
“We’ve got other targets that we’re pursuing as well today, so we’re having a look at those as much as we’re looking at Jack. In terms of where we stand, if we didn’t get anyone across the line I’d still be very, very pleased.”
