Drogba's low goalscoring rate was both a cause and an effect of Chelsea always buying a second striker (Crespo, Torres, Anelka to a certain extent) and a lot of those appearances without goals were games when he was subbed in for them, or games when he played with them in an effective striker partnership. I'm pretty sure you included the 5 mins cameos in 14/15 as well to inflate those stats

When we sold Crespo and he was the undisputed starter in 06/07 he had a really good season goalscoring wise. When Carlo came and put him back as the main man he scored a ton before he got malaria'd and we got Torres'd. We all know who RDM decided was the undisputed starter in the 11/12 CL and how well he did there.

Not to mention he played his whole career with Lampard (who was usually the one with the highest goalscoring tally at the end of the season) who would act as a second striker and join him in the box and take a lot of the passes and crosses away from Didier. Plus all the penalties and free kicks Frankie took.
