Team GB finish 2nd in the medal table. Stunning effort

Another amazing Olympics is over. Congrats to GBR for achieving things, They finish third on total medals tally and beat the Russian Federation.

It was a great tournament for Central Asia as well with Kazakhs, Uzbeks and Azerbaijanis getting 15+ medals.

Congrats to Freeza and unique, Its time to call the post padding to an end.

206 NOCS have competed at summer
116 have winter(not including obsolete ones like east germany...if you do it raises to 127)

Even then most of the earth is too poor and warm to honestly compete in expensive winter sports. Its like the womens world cup when we celebrated like mad men over our women putting 11 past a bunch of thai office workers...its not a fair competition in most cases.


Summer actually feels like a world event.

Nagano was supposed to be a huge Japanese showcase of winter talent that came through because the Japanese government placed a shit ton of resources in it....didnt even crack the top 5 in medal placement. South Korea in 2018 did better in medal count, but that can be attributed to the inclusion of more sports...they didnt fare any better in the standings.

Winter sports have a poorer return on investment than summer ones, plus its easier to get better coaching in summer sports as the pool is larger.

tbh i do watch some of the winter sports but i like the summer games better.

Summer is able to give more sports that are enjoyable for more audiences.

I remember the 2002 winter olympics which were hosted here in America. The teachers would let us watch it since a lot of events came on during the day in school and it was a couple of months after 9/11 so we were trying to be patriotic. It was SO boring that kids literally begged to do work instead. The winter olympics...making a room full of 7th graders beg for math.

Summer Olympic Games are 100 times better than Winter. Honestly I don't even care about Winter games. It seems a Serie B tournament for me. The Europa League of Olympic Games.
Unfortunately Italy get just these , while the last Summer Olympics are in Roma '60.
Well Roma 2004 was so close, but Athens had to be compensated after that theft by Atalanta in '96.
Well I feel  not even Greeks are  so glad to have got this victory  given its tragic economic impact later
