Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
I've had this argument before. The loophole in Higuain's clause is that it can be paid over two years.
As for other targets mentioned, Lewandowski plays for Bayern..
We dont know if Dortmund would even sell Aubameyang this year after having let go three of their star players.
Again, we wouldnt have made this move if we were thinking of moving him to another club in a few years time. We count on him to be our starting striker and deliver the goods for another 3-4 years at least. You see us as we're some Dortmund or something caring about resale value and purchasing young targets.

Higuain isn't a brand and Juve don't need him for that anyhow. He's a bigger flop in CL than Ibra is. He's not spectacular, technical or charismatic either in the sense that he would be a show in himself. Really... what's the point?
This would hold true if we're planning to center the whole team around Higuain and count on him to win the CL but no, he's more like the missing piece in the puzzle. We have other players who could make a difference too. Juve have lacked a world class CF for far too long. This is just the icing on the cake.

Absolutely ecstatic about Juve this season, they may actually beat the big trio to the Champions League.

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
That still doesn't explain it... you need to pay Higuain 95 mil to continue winning Serie A for the next 2-3 years (he'll be 33 in the middle of the 4th year and that's old for a football player)?
You can't pay 95 million on a soon-to-be 29 year old striker with the hopes that he will suddenly become a world beater in CL... it's a huge gamble. It may work out this way. But can you reasonably believe it will when all the data points in the exact opposite direction?

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
Never really had any affinity towards Higuain but I really hope he has a Tevez like season in the CL this season tbh.
Because he struggled in CL for Madrid doesn't mean it's certain to continue and it's perfect for him to succeed tbh.

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
S.... so you're ok with Juve paying 95 million for a striker that you don't expect will the main ingredient in the CL big games? If it was 50-60 mil, great buy. But 95 million for Higuain? That's just insane.

@mole... have you seen him with Argentina NT? He's flopped all the international tournaments with them too all the way to the last one this summer. I won't even mention WC 2014. His club wasn't Madrid when he played in any of those.

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
47M this year and Zaza will more likely than not be sold for around 25M. Morata 30 + Zaza 25 = we got paid 8M to have Higuain as a striker this season.
47M next year is a lot i agree, but i believe from now on our puzzle is complete so that 47M might be the only BIG operation for us in summer 2017. If everything goes well only bench players will come and go.
But at the end of the day i agree with you sportsczy its a lot of money for a known choker (not being sarcastic)

He flopped no more than anyone else on the team tbh, because he missed some chances doesn't mean he did any worse than anybody else.
He's a scapegoat tbh, they had others who missed chances too but nobody got the same criticism. Besides I don't care about international football lol, most of the time it doesn't apply to club football.

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
scapegoat? He gets open looks at goal and misses as a CF. When he misses, he just shrinks in the game. That's not scapegoating. He's just not delivering. His job is to score and Argentina create a ton of scoring opportunities. He doesn't even get a ton of attention because the opposition is more worried about Messi and Di Maria. He has space to deliver.
Have you forgotten the misses? I don't want to post youtubes because this isn't the point I'm making.
All I'm saying is that Juve spent 95 million for a player that will not deliver more trophies than the ones they were favored to win without him.

You can't say that he won't lol, you don't know that. Stop saying your opinion like it's a fact.
As I said before Tevez was crap before he went to Juve in the CL but that didn't stop him from having a great season.
What happened in the past doesn't automatically mean it will happen in the future.

Tevez wasn't crap. He was incredible his first two years at City and carried them. Then he and Mancini had a feud that put him on the bench... and City held on to him inexplicably for an extra year after that. Nobody questioned Tevez' talent or ability on the pitch if motivated. The issue was that people thought he was crazy homesick and couldn't care less about playing in Europe. Most thought he had gone insane.

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
In any case... he won't hurt. Mandzukic is still there if needed in the CL and Higuain is a country mile better than Morata.
So overall, it's a big upgrade for Juve.

Wasn't crap in the CL lol? when he scored zero goals for City in the CL lmao.
Most of his European goals for Yanited came in the EL as well lol.
Funny how expectations change peoples viewpoints of players, Tevez scored more in the CL in his final season at Juve than he did in his entire career previous.
There's plenty of " world class " strikers who have just as bad records as Higuain in the CL if not worse but none of them seem to be written off as no hopes like Higuain is.

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
I remember when we signed Tevez this exact same argument was everywhere lol
Don't care what Higuains CL record was when his sole purpose in life was to feed Ronaldo 25 shots a game or what he done in his 20 minutes of CL glory with Napoli.
You're talking about pure guesswork as fact. Where the fact is he's one of the most in form #9s in football atm easily and we've been lacking a great #9 for *bleep* years.
As for International football, couldn't give less of a *bleep* about that. Going by that logic in the recent EURO 2016 as a football fan watching france I'd pass on Pogba for anything over £20,000,000 and Muller wouldn't get in any of the top 20 teams in football.

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
Remember when people critisized Barca for spending 40m on a 28 yo forward and called it one of the worst transfers ever
Anyways, Serie A just became a joke, even more of a training league than bundesliga. Serie Fodder.

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
@mole... come on dude. Don't spew garbage. Do you know how many opportunities Tevez had in CL with City? 13.. 5 of which he was sub due to Mancini. His teammates were nowhere near Higuain's teammates and Higuain got 48 chances at Madrid with 30 of them starts. Not to mention Tevez was fantastic in CL with Man U when he was actually on an elite squad. When he arrived at Juve, he hadn't played for over a year basically... so yeah, Tevez was very inconsistent and poor in Europe his first year. But he more than made up for it in his second year.
Point is... Tevez had a track record. It was inconsistent grant you. But he did have a track record of success in big situations.
Also, do you know how much Juve paid for Tevez? They gambled on him but paid very little for that gamble. If he failed, it wasn't that big of a deal. With Higuain, they paid 95 million ffs

Zero goals in 13 games.....
The last time he scored in the CL before Juventus, was 2009 ffs and in his first season at Juventus he scored once in 12 games lol.
Stop making up excuses and blaming other people for his performances, he was crap and there is no argument to the contrary.
Fact is he scored more in his final season at Juventus than he did in his previous 6 and there is no excuse for that and all things being equal you wouldn't give Higuain all these excuses.

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
And how many CL opportunities has Higuain had since his Napoli transfer? 4 games and he scored in 3 of them, against Arsenal and Dortmund too.
You do realize that players keep improving or get worse in time and don't stay at the same level right? Especially someone like Higuain who has entered his prime now.

Re: Official: Higuain to Juve
@BC... please don't make crap up. Tevez is your countryman too ffs.
He joined City in 2009. From 2009 until 2013, City played in 13 European competition games, 7 of which were Europa. So Tevez didn't score in 6 CL opportunities
Not to mention all those CL games happened in 2011-2012 and 2012-2103 when he was feuding with Mancini. he wasn't a regular for 3/4 of those seasons.
And Juve bought him for close to nothing, not 95 million
Do you really want me to compare anyone with Higuain's CL stats? Come on now.

He's 28 going on 29 in December. Strikers enter their early prime around 24 and usually are done come 30-31 unless they're aliens like Ibra. To give you Arsenal examples, Van Persie dropped off big time when he turned 31. Thierry Henry as well.
