When he was promoted to the senior team last year he was being used as a left winger. He showed promise but it was obvious he was being wasted there. He's much more of a finisher then a creator. Earlier this year Palmeiras changed coaches and he started playing as a second forward. This meant less defensive responsibilities and more attacking freedom which led him to scoring and contributing a lot more. About a month ago Palmeiras were without their best CFs (doping and injuries/form) so Gabriel was shifted to CF where he's been playing really well and scoring almost every game. So I'd say he can play both.
