They've always had at least a couple of top shelf attacking players:

-  Forlan/Aguero
-  Costa/Falcao
-  Turan/Costa
-  Turan/Griezmann

This past year is the only time that they've relied on just one top shelf attacking player.  They haven't missed a beat because Griezmann has stepped up in an incredibly efficient manner to boot.  He scored 32 goals on 133 shots and dished out 7 assists.  You know how many shots Ronaldo took?  322.  That's right 322!!!  He got 51 goals but look at his efficiency.

I actually thought they were going to struggle some this year but they didn't. They're trying to get someone to help Griezmann out (Higuain, Lacazette,etc.)... no luck so far though. Nico Gaitan should help a ton in terms of creating more opportunities however.

1. Turan is not and has never been a "top shelf attacking player."
2. Ronaldo takes far more shots than any other player, bad example. How many shots did Suarez or Messi take last season?
3. He may be the main source of Atleti's goals but that doesn't mean he is carrying them. Without their incredible defensive discipline they don't go anywhere and that is down to Simeone.

Doesnt CR deserve more credit than Griezmann taking this dreadful portuguese team to the finals?

Except for Pepe and maybe Gueirrero, not a single portugese player gets in that french team

portugal's got a dreadful squad. but from what i've watched its very difficult for me to say cristiano 'took' them to the finals...

btw because i say griezmann carried on his form from the season into the euros, does not equate to griezmann carrying france to the finals. not every tournament win means the best player on the team/highest scorer, carried the team to that cup win

Griezmann doesn't have either players' skill or mental fortitude and I am a huge fan of him. Also, he cannot be saying stuff like that whilst playing oodles of shit at the start of the season. World Champion or not, his form so far has been atrocious.

I'm having a piss ffs.  I like Griezmann a lot.  But he's barely a top 5 player for France, yet alone top 3 in the world.  To me, Mbappe, Varane, Pogba and Kante are better.  Lloris gets a shout and you also have Lucas Fernandez (whom I like a lot; typical Madrid we pick the wrong brother).
