Griezmann
Guillem Balague had a Q&A today with skysports, and he got the inevitable question about Ronaldo potentially leaving as soon as this summer, and whether Griezmann could replace him...
Now there is no point arguing whether he can be "replaced" but if he does leave, we will have to sign a player that can feel that void.
Griezmann is a good player, i am not one of those fapping about what he is doing with patetico but he is a good goalscorer and usually works hard around the pitch. While he is not an outstanding player with the ball in his feet, his movements and speed make him extremely dangerous in the final third. needs to massively improve his big games moments though...
anyway Balague said we see him as a "galactico" lol. Last month, Mendes mouth piece in the Times was saying It's Hazard that we have our sight on.
I have my own opinion about all this, but what do you guys think?

Re: Griezmann
griezmann is decent and can turn out to be an elite player, but as far as cr replacement? i thought bale had that covered tbh, they basically do the same shit overall, and the team can use a proper 4-3-3 which would make the most sense or continue 4-2-3-1 and give isco a starter role.
If someone had to be brought in out hazard, griezmann, alexis and reus... reus, griezmann, alexis then hazard that order.

Yeah, Hazard would actually look world class in a team like ours. So much talent being under utilized.

We don't even need a replacement tbh.. Just the players we have need to stay healthy.

Only in theory, he has yet to really show it consistently. A club like Madrid would bring that out of him.
Yes, I am shamelessly promoting the idea of Hazard at Madrid.

Re: Griezmann
Hazard is overrated unfortunately... and i truly love the kid. If you think Griezmann underperforms in big games, then Hazard basically doesn't exist in those lol. At least Griezmann has an excuse because he literally has no striker to help him... Mandzu and Torres. With Costa, Hazard has no excuse.

Re: Griezmann
well, bottom line would be that both underperform then
They play vastly though, Griezmann truly plays behind the CF, he is moving well, he doesnt do anything outstanding with the ball, and he can score.
Hazard plays away from the box, as if he is scared to move in, he can do outstanding stuff with the ball but doesnt move very well.

Re: Griezmann
hazard is alright but there is more to footy than looking world class, griezmann is la liga proven and will supply a decent amount of goals and assists, with ton of workrate not the best dribbler but that doesn't matter with his decision making and movement.
look at isco and james, isco looks better on the ball very skillful and looks WC, but im sure everybody is picking james ahead of him cause he gets results, minus half the youtube pandering that some fans love, more than actually winning the games, griezmann and hazard are the same thing.

Re: Griezmann
I don't think that's right Nick... you have to look at the supporting cast and then put performance in context.
On one hand, you have Hazard that has Costa as his CF, Willian on the other side, Fabregas and Oscar covering the advanced CM roles and Matic as the DM. Also have Ivanovic and Azpi as the fullbacks.
On the other hand, Griezmann has the the 20 year old pair of Correa and Oliver Torres as his creative help with Fernando Torres as his CF. They play a double DM set with Gabi and Tiago. The fullbacks are Juanfran and Felipe Luis.
It doesn't take much of a manager to figure out what to do: Take Griezmann out of the game and see what the others can do. Teams don't have that luxury against Chelsea because they have MUCH MUCH better attacking players outside of Hazard. Hazard has a lot more room to operate. Chelsea's struggles this season have more to do with Mourinho losing the plot in his 3rd season yet again more than anything else tbh.
I mean Griezmann kicked Neymar off the La Liga top XI last season and has 5 goals and 3 assists this season... yet he gets very little respect. I don't get it.

Re: Griezmann
I think he gets a lot of respect but there are posters who just find that certain players (Neymar and Reus as legit examples) are better. Of course, I think the Frenchman is as productive as those 2 or probably even better but from what I have seen on this forum, he is highly respected.

Re: Griezmann
Griezmann beating Neymar to la liga best XI doesnt mean much when everyone and their mom would take Neymar over griezmann if both are available.
Griezmann gets a lot of respect, but he is not world class, not yet.
but what are we comparing exactly? the level of both player? their position in both their teams?
@not sure where you are going with that isco vs jame comparison, hazard has been rather great so far in his career. and Griezmann being more direct, literally playing second striker for atletico doesnt make him a better player.

Re: Griezmann
I really don't care what Hazard, Reus or Griezmann were 2-3 years ago... we have the same disconnect regarding Reus. I am talking about NOW as in the PRESENT.
If you look at Reus, Griezmann and Hazard in the current context, Griezmann has been outperforming all of them. Heck, he's playing better than Bale and Neymar too.
And again... Reus and Hazard had the fortune of playing early and being emphasized on team like Dortmund or prime Lille/Chelsea. Griezmann was doing the best he could with LaReal... not the same level of supporting cast by a long shot. So you are comparing apples and oranges before Griezmann joined Atleti anyhow. The true comparison of the three started at that point.

Re: Griezmann
the current context is the first month of the 2015-2016. Why should we make a decision on one month of competition in september when nothing matter?
If we look at the whole of last season, I dont exactly see how Griezmann was overplaying Hazard.
