Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid
This is a make or break game for us. The toughest game we have left this season. Barca and Atleti are probably expecting us to lose points here but lets see what we are made of
Vela is suspended for LaReal while Ronaldo and Benz are out injured for us.
Predicted line up:
Honestly it will be a miracle if we win this game but if Getafe can do it then so can we

Yeah, that midfield of Illaramendi and Granero scares the shit out of me!

Re: Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid
Tough game for certain. Toughest game nope. This is a small game in the grand scheme of things. As long as Barca and atletico keep on winning, no chance for the season title. Lets get a 2 goal lead and run away with it. ManCity is more important. I hope nobody else gets hurt.
Re: Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid
I hope isco and james impress enough for them to have a shot in the second leg with Man city because we need their attacking instinct

Re: Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid
I would replace modric with kovacic in that line-up.
i expect us to go all out in the first few minutes, gain a comfortable lead and withdraw our key players in the second half, especially bale.
i predict a win for us; not a comfortable one, but a win regardless

Re: Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid
Play the back ups and if we don't win let's just say atleast we did the right thing.
Re: Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid
You guys like to exaggerate to the point of ridiculous!
Our lineup has holes in it and they are unpredictable, but they are still near top of liga and in CL semis. They are clearly a class above a 12th place la liga team even with reserves. Real Sociedad is in 12 th place and even though they beat both Barcelona and Sevilla and tied Villareal recently, they also lost to Getafe (2nd last team) and Eibar (13th place team) in the same period. They also are unpredicable!
We can't take them lightly but we also shouldn't exaggerate.
At end of day, although we would like to win this game and remaining two, it very likely will not matter at all. So let's not exaggerate the importance of this game.

Re: Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid
Hmm, I do enjoy exaggerating though
A match we could seriously drop points in but as someone mentioned above, as long as Atleti and Barca keep winning, the title is still in their favour regardless of what we do. And for some reason, we do struggle to play against them at the Anoeta so there is that.
What I am looking forward to though is seeing James' and Isco's performances. This match (and vs City as well) is as much of a litmus test for them as it is for the squad. I shall borrow some of Hala's optimism for both encounters...

Navas
Danilo-Varane-Ramos-Arbeloa
James-Kovacic-Isco
Vasquez-Jese-Bale
Probably lose big time, but what the heck The real kick in the teeth would be to lose this game with our second teamers and then lose to City too.

Starting to ponder now how badly Zidane screwed up the first leg are we? Top kek.sportsczy wrote:Navas

I would like a win but boy we got our work cut out for us.
For me its a matter of which matters more: the League or CL?
If we push all the way for this tie, we may find triumph though at the cost of being eliminated by city.
If we don't take this tie seriously, our chances against city fare much better.
As I said earlier, the league is currently out of reach. IMO, we should gun for the CL and hard. This is why I say this is a small game in the grand scheme of things. CL is more important and we have much better chances of winning that vs the League.
Zidane could go for both but that will depend on luck. its upto him to decide which is more important. Hopefully, he picks CL as priority. we already have too many hurt now. lets not aggravate our injury situation any further please.
Re: Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid
I actually thought the City game was spot on in terms of tactics... no Ronaldo, no Benz for all intents and purposes and you have to worry about Ramos/Pepe. Far better to let the tie be decided at the Bernabeu then gamble and risk getting smoked. We tried the whole attacking thing against Wolfsburg and our defense got smoked.

Come on Bale. That's 3 clear chances now in the first 22 mins. You have to score on one of those ffs.

Hala, how did Castilla play with Lucas, Denis, Jese, Morata, Sarabia, Alex all the at same time? I am pretty sure it was a front line of Morata, Jese and Denis? Where did Lucas play?

Hala, I got my answer. Lucas started in 2011, year Sarabia moved to Getafe. He played as a midfielder with front line of Morata, Jese, Denis (Joselu the backup).

Re: Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid
Okish half. We are creating chances but not being able to finish them off. Havent given LaReal any clear chances either. That left side with Bale, Nacho and James has been the best. Havent even noticed the right side. Lucas has been invisible and Mayoral is getting no service. Other than that if Nacho had just scored his chance i would have been satisfied
@bill, Lucas wasnt first choice on the right. It has always been Juanfran. Juanfran played on the right, Denis/Jese on the left and Morata and Joselu/Jese up top. We used to steamroll teams 4/5-0. Too bad it kept breaking up every summer bit by bit

James looking good! I beg to differ. For those begging for James to start (or have the team built around him as someone has said), take a closer look, especially his shots and passes!
And what about Turok saying Majoral should be the backup to Benz!!!

As I recall, Hala was the only guy on here who shared my criticism towards him. I said it was too early to tell whether or not he was up to par, but he hasn't improved much, if at all, since then.

Overall the team is doing well, not amazing. We've had chances we should have put away.
I hope we can a goal early in the second half.
