Is Bale the most important player for Real Madrid?

I genuinely think Bale has had a better season between him, Cristiano and Benzema. He is a genuine difference maker and Real did great when Cristiano was injured or when Benzema was out however without Bale barca looked quite toothless and they lack a genuine match winner which he has proved to be this season time and time again.

He has definitely been the better of the front 3. Tracking back, creating chances etc he has been excellent. The only guy in the front 3 who has been able to work with both of the coaches we had this season too. Even against Wolfsburg when we lost, he was the only guy who was creating chances and doing his best. That said, there are many other guys who have had excellent seasons and Lucas Vasquez is one of them, one of the biggest mistake we made vs Atleti was not playing Lucas when Bale was injured. I dont know if he is the most important because he has a capable back up. At this point I'd probably say Casemiro is the most important. Without him we are not very good defensively

I think the title of the most important is reserved for Ronaldo. But Bale is definitely in the top 5.

bale had a good game today. i didn't like the way he played, but he stepped up massively, which is something i've criticized our so called stars for lacking in; so full props, but no he's not the most important. cristiano modric and keylor have been more important. whether you like him or not, that hattrick against wolfsburg shouldn't be ignored just like that. especially the freekick, lol i was just saying to my kid before he took it that he should let bale take it

Bale stood up and played like a player with responsibility. Very much as he used to at Spurs.

There was no Kommander to rescue so captain had to step up

I honestly don't think we'd be competing for anything this season, if Keylor Navas hadn't be so spectacularly consistent since day 1.

Bale too inconsistent though this season he has being doing better.

He's an elite player and has actually contributed through this season and the last. Most important has been and still is Ronaldo. Currently, that hierarchy cannot be contested. However, Bale still is a vital member of RM's trident and in general to the team.

Do you think we'd be in the same place today, with Kiko Casilla or some other unexceptional goalkeeper in place of Keylor Navas?

Navas has been as vital as most of the players on the first team (Marcelo, Modric, Pepe). Of course, they're all important. But then you have those who aren't as vital or intregral like Isco or Danilo. RM is basically up there without much of James this season. There's definitely a hierarchy of importance, in any team.

Marcelo and Pepe have been atrocious dude. Ramos too. In fact, most of our issues have been defensive... under Rafa, you could blame our awful setup. But these 3 haven't looked better under Zidane and the lines are much more compact. Casemiro has saved their arse and the fact that we now bring Vasquez in the game at some point to help with defensive cover. Just by improving tactically and having better work rate, we've been able to cover most of the defensive mistakes... but the mistakes are all still there. They just don't cost us as much anymore.

You have a case with Ramos. That guy should be a DM or SB imo. I'd rather have Pepe/Varane's marking over Ramos easily. Marcelo isn't one to expect good defending from. He's the guy that just pressures the opposing team's right side when RM have the ball and has been good at it. Pepe hasn't had good rhythm due to lack of starting opportunities but he still bossed it against Barca, for example. Marcelo & Pepe do it for me.

Marcelo started the season well.... but the last 2 months, he's non-existent both on the attack and defense. No idea what happened to him. Just went completely down the drain offensively which is a disappointment. He can't cross, can't pass and has no final product suddenly.

Pepe has been on and off... mostly off lately. But he's smarter than Ramos ( Laughing

). Varane gets injured too much so he's always working to find form to then suddenly go down again when he finds it. We really need all 3 because none of them will last a season.

It's been a weird season defensively.

I won't even mention Danilo...

As far as Bale... yes he is. He's the only player we have that attacks with pace. When he's out, we don't have that threat wide and we play very narrow. Ronaldo has spent most of the year hanging out in the same real estate as Benzema. Our fullbacks aren't special enough to create width by themselves.

Keylor Navas has had a major role to play. Of the 78 shots he has faced, he has saved 91.3%. That's the second highest rate in the competition, behind Sven Ulreich, who has saved 100% of the 12 shots on his goal.

Navas' numbers, though, are incredible. Up until the quarter-final away leg against Wolfsburg, he had not conceded a goal in 10 Champions League games, including two matches in the 2014-15 season.

Of his 21 saves this season, 12 have been from shots inside the box and nine from outside.

His incredible shot-stopping is matched by his ability to thwart - or put off - opponents in one-on-one situations. Against Roma, he was out quickly to force Edin Dzeko and Salah into skewing their first-half efforts wide.

Without Navas saving clear-cut chances time and time again, BBC's efforts would've mattered little.

Assuming there was no other keeper between the sticks. Navas is also vital but I can't say for certain without knowing what Casilla is capable of.

I don't know if he's the most important at Madrid but he's certainly better and more important for his team than Neymar, that's for sure.
