Wouldn't surprise me, the stamina on some those players is ridiculous. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Re: Doping scandal in English football?
This is the doctor in question:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3354179/Harley-Street-doctor-kept-patient-dark-terminal-cancer.html
The Sunday Times have no independent evidence that players were doping and only have his word. He claims to have been selling steroids and HGH to athletes since 2010, including players from Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester and Birmingham. Allegedly, there's no evidence the clubs in question were aware of this.
UKAD (UK Anti-Doping) are opening an inquiry into all this. They had evidence two years ago but failed to act on it.

Okay, right, I wouldn't trust anything a guy like him says. If it's just his word, there's no case here, imo. If there's some actual evidence, then it's a different thing.

Somebody gave them evidence two years ago that this doctor was doping athletes but UKAD can only investigate those under the jurisdiction of a sporting body. They found that Dr. Bonar was independent so he fell out of their jurisdiction and could only pass info on to other bodies to investigate.
Arsenal and Chelsea have both slammed the story:
http://metro.co.uk/2016/04/03/arsenal-and-chelsea-slam-reports-that-players-were-involved-in-doping-5791981/
Arsenal: "Arsenal Football Club is extremely disappointed by the publication of these false claims which are without foundation. The Sunday Times knows that these allegations are baseless but has preferred to publish regardless. The club takes its responsibilities in this area very seriously and our players are well aware of what is expected. We strictly adhere to all guidelines set by the World Anti-Doping Agency."
Chelsea: "The claims The Sunday Times put to us are false and entirely without foundation. Chelsea Football Club has never used the services of Dr Bonar and has no knowledge or record of any of our players having been treated by him or using his services. We take the issue of performance enhancing drugs in sport extremely seriously and comply fully with all anti-doping rules and regulations. Chelsea FC players are regularly and rigorously tested by the relevant authorities."

Re: Doping scandal in English football?
You guys aren't going to want to hear this but
Pretty much every top footballer is on something, whether that's EQ, EPO, test, or some designer steroid. I can say that hgh is incredibly popular because it's not usually tested for.
Doping is going to catch up in football soon enough.

Absolutely this. Who is/was a close follower of cycling realise this.
Is just that in football or NBA etc, they don't have the interest to catch them. The stakes are to high. Imagine if Messi, Ronaldo, Lebron James were caught doping (Which by the way i'm 100% sure they are) what would people say that they watched a farce for so many years? What credibility would football have?
People want to see the show, people want to see blood, people want to see the player in the last minutes of the game running like Usain Bolt, and scoring in the last second, people want icons in sport.. They don't want to see some tired, natural, barely walking normal humans in the last minutes... And they are served with that, but it's a complete farce.

So police investigated it? This is starting to sound awfully similar as late Russian doping scandal.Jay29 wrote:Harmonica wrote:What does this mean? Re: Doping scandal in English football?
Well, at least this proves that my team isn't doped. If you see how they trudge over the pitch most of the time, they look more as if they are on some tranquiliziers or so...
On a more serious note - I think it is unlikely that football is the only "clean" sport in the world. It's just that way too much money is involved for the big wigs to allow high profile players to be caught.

Instead of trying hard and spending money on catching drug cheats they should let everyone dope if they like. Sorted

They got the wrong doctor. Instead of proper doping they just get high before the game

This is going to blow over, there is no substance to any of the accusations and everyone mentioned is flat out denying it.

Re: Doping scandal in English football?
So no one disagrees. Good. Because doping is so obvious at the top level. And no, I don't just mean the teams accused. Everyone does it.
Players are hardly tested it's a joke. Some of these guys have rail thin frames and manage to keep so much muscle despite running to the ground twice a week in a game. Or some are definitely blood doping. That's the way sports are but football is on another level of blind ignorance.
An endurance sport combined with a requirement for strength. Yeah, a lot of these guys are on something.
Let me give you an example. Testosterone suspension. Has a half life of like 12 hours or something. That could easily clear the system by the time they get tested

Re: Doping scandal in English football?
if Arsenal and Chelsea players are doping they are defo taking the wrong stuff! Hazard must have accidentally grabbed the meth.
I would not be surprised if Vardy was doping tbh.
Leicester do have suspiciously few injuries and when they do they seem to recover awfully quickly. I have been waiting all season for one of their players to get injured which I predicted would be the beginning of their decline. It never happened.
The thought of Spurs as champions by default
Wenger was outspoken about doping in football at the turn of the year. I very much doubt what he was saying had no substance. I can see this thing blowing up unless there is a cover up ala operation puerto.
