Suarez invincible overall but still man of the match
Neymar great 30 minutes in second half then faded
Messi is off form.looks exhausted like hell needs at least 1 week of rest
Busquets was bad
Iniesta was above average
Rakitic was good
Defense looked slow and disorganized

Overall team looks exhausted.they raised their game 30 minutes or so but then again became sloth

Rakitic is the only one looks his oldself with energy.others needs rest and then some 5-0 win against some scrub to get back in rhythm. they are in bad condition mentally and physically

Atletico plays like what Copa America games looked like. Run, hack, run, hack, get the ball turn around and spray it foward and hope someone can get it and shoot towards goal = repeat

Props to Iniesta and Neymar, they tried there ass off. Messi and Suarez kept drifting in and out, but the difference between the two is that Suarez can still score a ton even when playing bad. Messi seems like he has to be completely in rhythm and today Atletico were doing there best to hack him any chance they got

All in all these dudes need a rest and they should be fine, but they need to get going soon it's the business end of the season

Good results, still not over fully over with NT-break sluggishness. Suarez and Iniesta were really bad, although Suarez redeemed somewhat with a great finish the second goal.

position difference dude.messi is center-back suarez is center forward.messi used to enjoy that role before suarez transfer and scored hat tricks every week now it happens once in a season

Good but undeserved result. Suarez should have been sent off for that challenge and Busy should have gotten an early yellow for a similar challenge as Torrez.

We were lucky!

Oh no torrez got sent off correctly. Perhaps Lucas should have gotten a second yellow, so that cancels the Busquets one, but Suarez's stuff was pure aggression that not only should get him sent off, but also award him with lengthier than normal ban. In that context WE were the lucky ones.

On the game, our main problem was our attacking shape. Neymar and Messi both went inside and left the wings to Alves and Alba. That's just stupid, it clogs the midfield and Alba and Alves can't take on players by themselves on the wing. Stay out wide more and drift to the center with the ball or with the flow of the game. Then you can use the space on the wings and the 2v1 with your FB.

Wasn't it Atletico that riled up him to the point he got suspended for yelling in the tunnel earlier in the season?

Iniesta was incredible, the only who pushed forward until we scored along with neymar who is still really unlucky

I want someone like Suarez in our team tbh. Just needs to tone down a notch that's for sure but the guy is our last resort against dirty teams. Mild antidote that's what I would call him. Needs to remain mild though.

i thought Neymar reacted well to the thuggery that Atletico were putting on him. The more they hacked at him, the harder he would run at them. Never once did he back down and if anything it made him try harder. Suarez reacted by always staying close to the goal looking for a chance and started to get really dirty back which is a bad look for him. Messi reacted by standing around outside the box waiting to get the ball so he could try to dribble through traffic.

Iniesta missed easy passes the whole game. Neymar wasn't good either and missed should've scored chance.

Suarez somehow has this knack of adding something even though he'll be invisible throughout the game.

And I liked how Neymar kept going at them. Good performance from him. Iniesta was decent, not the best game from him but he was definitely important in pushing ahead. He missed some easy passes though, which could be avoided.

Torres red was 100% deserved, it felt like he was asking for it.

Return leg is going to be tricky. I'm hoping that in their push to score they open up play a bit more and that MSN are clinical. Because if they score first its going to be incredibly difficult.

Any news on Suarez. Is he going to be suspended? If he does get suspended, then we can kiss the CL goodbye.

I haven't heard anything and there really isn't a ton of news on Suarez other than his goals.

But Lucho really needs to sit down with him and tell him to knock that crap off or it will hurt the team.

I just watched some highlights and a decent part of the game. Athletico are dirty. I don't think I will ever say this again as a Madrid fan but I'm glad Suarez played their game and gave them some medicine of their own

That cant be right surely, both the goals came from the wings, Alves had to many crosses in and Alves has helped so much attacking. Of course it was 11vs10 so to stretch the play like that is always the way to play.

Gotta say though, we only got on top once Torres was sent off quite early, but we honestly still didnt play as good as we should have, memories of the 11v9 when we got outplayed ffs... credit must go to Atletico, they are just so damn competitive. I dont dare to think what would have happened if it stayed 11v11.
