For a change I agree with freeeza, but just slightly. Marcelo should have gotten a yellow for that aggressive kick, otherwise you are correct.

Las Palmas would have put more of a fight than these glorified pussies.

I got nothing, honestly a really disappointing performance, a total let down of extreme proportions.

Yeah, Marcelo shouldn't have done that. Penalty shouldn't have counted, and if it did, we had just a big a shout of one.
But even after all this, we deserved to lose. Defense is shit without Varane and you don't deserve anything when you can't finish the chances we've had.

RM will fix this. 2 goals are nothing for the return leg. They just have to keep the composure and not let a goal in and they are gold, can score 3 easily.

I'm worried about not conceding though. Ramos is Ramos and Pepe has declined so fast. Need Varane back.

Ronaldo will one of the worst performance i have seen in recent years. Sums it up when he lost the ball for the umpteenth time and then instantly pointed at Bale to chase it

Re: CL QF / Real Madrid vs Wolfsburg
Has nothing to do with bale, Ronaldo or benzema. This loss is 100% on the midfield and fullbacks. Pathetic display from almost everyone bar Jese and bale.
He was very poor but the bigger picture is when our defense and midfield can't win the ball back, like ever. You can't allow a team like Wolfsburg who have pace on the break to run at you.. you can't. The same thing happened against roma, this time we paid for it.

@lucifer - Dude he had a night off, maybe even a season off, but never have i seen a more complete game from ronaldo than against barca in classico. He was everywhere contributing with everything, and he toped it with a goal. I got to hand it to him, at his age and still shows why is he number 2.

Re: CL QF / Real Madrid vs Wolfsburg
Zidane's subs were quiet poor. James should have been on for Kroos at 65th min at the latest. All Kroos did for entirety of the match was to switch the play from one end to another. Even Pepe can do that.
Madrid's gameplan was confusing. They only tried two things. 1) Switch the play and ask the wide player to cross which wolfsburg cleared time and time again 2) long shots where none hit the target
Awful performance.
Bale was the only player who looked decent.

Re: CL QF / Real Madrid vs Wolfsburg
Bale is looking hella good by the way. A shame we have no one in good positions for his crosses because they are always great.
I'm gonna also say that Kroos and Danilo were awful. Like really, really bad.
The problem is RG for this tactic, you need the fullbacks to push up well and the midfield three to cover and attack at the same time. When you have two players completely screwing up royally, it becomes much more difficult. Also, Marcelo didn't cover himself in glory defensively. So that's three players. There was no high pressure at times because some of our guys just suck at it.
Zidane's tactics are fine, the players are the problem.

Neat, now Wolfsburg only needs to score 1 goal and Madrid will need 4.
Not impossible but good odds to Wolfsburg.

That strategic masterclass from Zidane though. Amazing how much difference that guy has made to this team.

That makes no sense. He has to adjust his tactics to the players or its his bad. Everyone knows the kind of players Marcelo and Danilo are. If Kroos and Modric can't cover a lot of ground and your fullbacks think they are wingers, then you are gonna get exposed unless you keep the lines tight.

Re: CL QF / Real Madrid vs Wolfsburg
I am confused. We had so much talk about some calls yesterday, but nothing tonight.
Can someone explain here, how many yellows is normal to be given in this situation? Is it one, two? And to which player? Also which player did actually get the card?

Yeah, no. He wants us to actually play a higher pressure, more attack minded game. No, it isn't his fault Danilo made his winger look like prime Messi and it isn't his fault our fullbacks can't defend at all. It also is not his fault that kroos runs as fast as a tank.
You have to blame the players at some point and we have a lot of players who don't fit in.

And why in the world does he want you to play a more attack minded game? he has been with these players for like 3 years. The manager has to adapt to his squad or its his fault. The players can fail or succeed but he has to give them the best chance.
Very fast and attacking fullbacks, world class and extremely athletic wingers, a striker that can pivot and playmake, CMs with no pace but great passing range. That's a prime counterattacking team. He has to be more flexible.

Re: CL QF / Real Madrid vs Wolfsburg
2nd goal was a goal straight out of FM. Toooo easy!!
Pathetic defending. Real simply allowed them to play.
Danilo How the hell he convinced a team like Madrid to buy him ?! Looks like an utter liability.
Real will turn it around though. But the interesting thing is Wolfsburg is not a team that will sit back and defend now. They are an exciting team with decent attacking players. So if they can nick a goal in at Bernabeu, Real's task will be cut out.

Re: CL QF / Real Madrid vs Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg have done well. They deserve their victory.
Real Madrid was embarrassing to watch. So many shots going to the sky...
Very difficult to overcome this. I don't like our odds especially with Benz out injured. Ramos decline along with Danilo incompetence very troubling. Very, very difficult.
Defeating barcelona in their own home and then this happens? Football sure can be very amusing in regards to twists and turns.
Hopefully benzema not out too long or we're screwed. Moment he got hurt, I already felt the night would not go well for us.
