Re: Thiago Motta Vs Xabi Alonso
i like both of them and I'd go with Xabi . Less injury prone and he can deliver better passes. Motta might me a little better than him as a DM but overall Xabi.

I dnt know why but Xabi is generally underrated.even on this forum he rarely gets mentioned even when he is giving solid performances week in week out. Huge fan of this guy

Re: Thiago Motta Vs Xabi Alonso
Seemed everyone @ realmadridistas was ripping Xabi as too slow, poor tackler in his last year at Madrid and he left because Perez and co thought they had found a better deep MF! Seemed like I was the only supporter. But seeing Tito's response maybe I wasn't the only one. Many said he couldn't play the deep role yet it was him AND busquets that anchored our NT to WC and Euro.
He may be slowing down, but we wouldn't have half of our problems if we kept him and used him as our deep MF.

Re: Thiago Motta Vs Xabi Alonso
Motta is actually better than Alonso as i've watched both extensively... he's just much more technical.

Prime to Prime, Alonso shits on Motta and it ain't close. Not even a little bit.
Right now, Motta is a tiny bit better than aging Alonso though.

Motta is good one the best and underrated, but Xabi is another level.

Pretty much this except I think Motta is quite better now.

Re: Thiago Motta Vs Xabi Alonso
Thiago Motta is the most underrated player of Inter 2009-2010 , always said already at that time, I'm glad he showed to be a great player also in Paris.
Anyway , X. Alonso was better than him.

Please, my hate for Xabi is well documented throughout the history of GL, and Motta has never been anything more than a very useful role player.

You may hate him but surely you must respect him as a player no? i don't really know anyone who simply doesn't rate him.
Also the whole notion of Alonso falling off the face of the planet and Motta clearly being better is a bit confusing to me. If he's so bad now then clearly Bayern are not aware of it.

Other than long range passes there isn't a single thing i can think of that Alonso does better than Motta .

This. Mottas short passing is better and he is better in tighter spaces, better at defending and positioning himself.
