Branagh is a 5 time Oscar nominee, Rylance is the heavy favourite this year it looks like. Branagh bigger director than actor though. He directed Cinderella and Thor lately. Was bigger in the 90s.
Can't wait to see who the leads are. They're looking for teenagers. John Boyega can play a teen imo

Forgot his name. He's called Glitterik Smørhår in Danish. Directly translated to English that's Slippery Butterhair or something.

Think that July date they mention in the article will be pushed back so that they can give the film a proper Oscar run

Well if the film is good which it will be, it will still be nominated for oscars regardless when its released. Mad Max for example will dominate a lot of categories (nominations anyways) despite releasing so early.

Don't think so tbh. Warner Bros. are in dire need for financial hits. They'll prob want that summer slot. They can't afford to care about Oscars atm. And if Mad Max is nominated they'll probably keep it this date, since it shows blockbusters can be nominated from the summer.

That isn't normal though, more often than not the ones closer to the awards have the best chance. I mean it might but it's best not to chance it IMO.
Even if they don't mean it, human nature to remember something more recent than something which happened 6 months prior.

It won't what? It'll be good. It has the same chances for Oscars if it's released in the summer as it will in the fall.
Nolan has 1 best picture nominated film, which was released in July.

Are they doing that badly? I haven't been keeping up to date with their overall cash flow tbh But i know their gaming division is extremely profitable and unless i'm unaware of something i doubt there's a reason for their film and tv part to struggle to be that desperate.

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
I meant Mad Max won't dominate nominations in a lot of categories
Not arguing that Dunkirk won't be good lol of course it will. Just saying, the summer films don't usually get big consideration at the Oscars and we all know that, unless the film is GOAT or close to GOATness

I really think that's because they can't compete financially in the summer. The reason they release so late is because they can use Golden Globe, Oscar nominations etc as marketing material if they're any good. And believe me, it works. Just look at American Sniper last year, it was the highest earning movie in North American and it was released like the day of the Oscars.
@Mole Warner Bros. had like a billion $ loss on 5 movies Pan, In The Heart of The Sea, Point Break, Jupiter Ascending, Man from Uncle also lost some I think. Mad Max Made a tiny profit I think. Overall it's prob the worst year ever for Warner Bros.
Their entire future is riding on DC and Harry Potter film atm.

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
In an ideal world Mad max should be nominated for best direction, cinematography, stunt, choreography, picture, supporting actor, sound editing, original score, production design, makeup, costume design and editing
If some absolute scrub of a film gets nominated like pitch perfect 2 in one of those categories ahead of mad max then the whole award is farcical

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
Mad Max is probably the sure bet for most nominations. Star Wars could be a close second. All the sound, editing, make-up, stunts, cinematography, effects seems like they'll be nominated in.

That was my argument for why they showed to much in the trailer. They're desperate because they're in a crisis. Also pretty sure all these films were in development before their currect CEO took over in 2013 or 2014. So he's just been handed a shit position (well, shit position in a relative sense. It's probably one of the 5 best jobs in Hollywood. And the best job not in Disney).

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
There's a category for stunts
I think in the main categories it will only get a best picture and best actress nom.
The rest of the stuff don't really matter that much to most people. Well maybe cinemtography is also big.

It's with effects I think It should have it's own though.
I care about all categories. I was furious about Interstellar's sound mixing nom last year, it was horrible. Also Amercan Sniper getting that editing nom while it keeps a shot of a plastic baby in frame....

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
lol American Sniper was such an asspull on many levels
Speaking of asspulls I finally saw The Battle of the Five Armies on Sunday night. Wanted to change the channel when Smaug was killed off like a pos in the opening 10 mins, all that hype and careful build up in the second film just for that
