One of the most over superstars in history. The crowd booed HBK & Rock for him, if people remember.
Possibly most over superstar since Rock & Austin & I doubt if they would be this over in today's PG era.
Wrestling has gone for me, I really can't accept this - Feels like a dagger. He is only 34 & had atleast 10 more years, he was only peaking. So many potential great feuds including Bryan vs Lesnar (Ultimate Underdog vs the beast).
Goodbye WWE, there is no more reason to watch this shit!

As if you didn't know this would happen lol. Also plenty of times people booed the Rock for current stars lol.
They booed him for Cena and Punk, means absolutely nothing. Also him being massively over as I said at the time says more about the talent on the roster.
Who else were they supposed to cheer? I mean seriously? Punk maybe? That's about it. If you want to give him credit for massively over you have to consider who he's up against. It doesn't work both ways.
It's the same thing I say about Cena, his success is due to a weak era and basically all the main guys leaving/getting injured at once. You have to accept that as a factor rightly or wrongly.

Bryan was one of the best things about modern WWE but you have to consider that modern WWE is a painfully average show with very few genuinely over and popular wrestlers. It makes you wonder how he would have done were he in that early 2000s/late 90s era.
It's a shame, though, that we'll never get to see how he would have done with a long run with the title. Injury never gave him the chance.

I don't believe in the whole 'x superstar wouldn't succeed in x era' thing. Would Hogan succeed today? Austin? Rock? It's all relative to the era they were in.
What we do know is Bryan was hugely over and people connected to him more than anyone else. He brought WWE mainstream attention and his underdog story was one of the greatest in history.

I think in this era Rock & Austin would be successful too but nowhere near. They do not have the violence, blood & adult content. Blood is a game changer, you can't take head chair shots for fear on concussion & so on.
And the internet is a killer. Very short attention span & huge criticism - IWC is a problem.
Bryan is his era was as popular if not more than Rock or Austin in their era. I am seeing WWE for 20+ years now, Rock used to be my favourite when I was a kid.
There is a reason why Taker, HBK, etc never turned heel for the last decade - because the audience respects them too much & would not boo them. But as a super over face & a movie star like the Rock is, or a legend like HBK is, if they are booing them for some1 like Bryan (with his mid-card booking), then that is special.
I personally have not seen these kind of things usually. My favorite still is HBK overall for various reasons.
But Bryan was the only reason I watched WWE nowadays & I will give up. In the ring he is by far the best wrestler (counting Benoit, HBK, Dean Malenko, Dynamite Kid) & had a connect with the crowd like no other

And ofcourse the best person I think has been there in a Wrestling ring. Having followed him for almost 10 years including independents. Unreal genuine & humble person.
Look at Coach's interview -
Coach - Favourite moment? How do you want people to remember you?
Bryan - When the crowd kept chanting about his name in the Cena vs Orton thing & his father was in the crowd. He says he is grateful to the crowd for giving him that moment.
And he does not want the crowd to remember him, he will be fine if they forget him. But if they want to remember anything, he wants them to remember the moments they enjoyed together with him performing & take those memories.
Unreal person. And he is only 34. He had 10 years & would have put 5 star match after match in Mania. Just a sad sad day!

Was never a fan but sad to see him retire at this age. Was hoping he'd bring back some of the star power.
Wishing him best of luck in the future.

Re: #ThankYouDanielBryan - The Official WWE Thread - Part 23
According to PWInsider, former WWE Tag Team Champion Titus O'Neil was sent home from last night's SmackDown tapings in Portland after likely being suspended for unprofessional conduct.
The situation occurred at the end of Monday's Raw when all of the talent were assembled at the top of the ramp for Daniel Bryan's retirement speech. Vince McMahon was walking to the ramp, and O'Neil grabbed McMahon's arm in a playful manner.
McMahon's response didn't look angry as he also playfully shoved O'Neil and laughed at him, but obviously the outlook on the situation has changed since then.
When O'Neil showed up at last night's Smackdown tapings, he was told that he would be sent home. PWInsider says that the suspension could be as much as 90 days, which would make him miss WrestleMania 32.
O'Neil had been riding an extended winning streak since his silent split from longtime tag team partner Darren Young. That streak came to an end Monday with a loss to Adam Rose.

Re: #ThankYouDanielBryan - The Official WWE Thread - Part 23
so this weeks raw was up ratings wise from last week but down from 2 weeks ago and ratings fell during bryan's farewell speech
all this when it was announced earlier in the day he would be back with a retirement announcement and major news sites were reporting it throughout the day

What I got the most out of RAW was the Dudley Boyz heel turn.
Really enjoyed that.
They were always at their best as heels. All that's missing is Bubba actually doing the sit-down powerbomb through tables instead of just doing the standing version, which seems bland. That and doing it to random people (like Lillian Garcia in her earlier days).
