As noted, AJ Styles teased over the weekend at a Revolution Pro Wrestling event that he might make his WWE debut in the Royal Rumble match this Sunday night. You can check out Styles’ in-ring promo in the video below.

Despite the Rumble tease over the weekend, however, Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com is reporting that WWE has different plans for the former Bullet Club member and face of TNA Wrestling. While plans could always change between now and Sunday night, Alvarez is noting that the current plan in WWE is for Styles to make his debut on the post-Rumble edition of Raw next Monday night, and the creative team is already working on vignette plans to introduce Styles to the WWE fans. The backstage feeling in WWE is that most casual fans of the product will not know who AJ Styles is, so the company wants to introduce him at an event like Raw.

In related news, it’s being said Styles will be the only one of the rumored NJPW names coming into WWE that will debut on the main roster, as Shinsuke Nakamura, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows are expected to head to NXT first.

It's not like a monster heel where a rumble intro makes sense.

Nah, would rather have Lesnar v Reigns then 76yr old HHH.

AJ won't debut until the Raw after WM. Keeps up with tradition. It would be the best crowd to actually know who he is. Traditional crowds would just think he's Tyler Breeze v2.

Bullet Club/AJ aren't going to save the WWE. Nobody but smarks/hardcore fans know who they are and just because they're stars in Japan, doesn't mean they're automatically going to be stars in the WWE. To casual fans they're just jobbers.

Done with the WWE unless something big happens at the rumble. Not prepared to sit a through a generic B+ level PPV story like Reigns/HHH.

I'm down for a GL reunion, 2014 style might as well get the network for a couple of months and watch like a king.

Seeing how lacking the current roster is I'm guessing AJ styles will debut in the rumble and get a sort of a mini monster push so he can feature in a decent match at mania.

They really need a big story to get people talking again. A generic kayfabe story like Reigns/HHH or even a Lesnar/Wyatt feud won't cut it.

In a dream scenario I would have Punk back on a part time deal with him main eventing WM.

Something like this would be good enough.
