How is everyone surprised.
Atleti should have awarded a penalty.
Never mentioned that we shouldn’t either nor I said we didn’t deserve the win.

Because there's absolutely zero logical sense what you said. "We dominated, but not as much because Atleti should've had penalty." When actually based on should've penalties Barca dominated even more.

Fartra's yolo excursions out of the defensive line to come looking for the ball where he has no business being are some of the worst I've ever seen from a defensive player. I'm glad the coaching staff sees this and has him reduced to 5th option at CB.

It's true that he does that, but it's only because he plays too few time and wants to impress too much when he plays. If he played regularly and was given clear instructions, he would be as good as Pique.

"We dominated but Atleti should have had a penalty"

To me that's pretty straightforward. You can read "We dominated but Atleti should've had a penalty and then score would be 2-2" out of this. You made it sounds like Atletico got robbed of something lol

I read that as "we dominated but we could have drawn with different luck"

Woeful positionally. Just watched the game again.

Basic defending he is getting wrong. One CB leaves the line (as Mathieu did to attempt to win the ball), the leftback (Alba, also his fault in the goal) and him have to close the space between them. Neither reacted, but Mascherano was totally clueless.

Plus in the first half he was giving balls away everywhere.

When Pique is back and IF Verm isnt out 6 months I would like to see those two play together.

Agreed. That seems like the natural thing to do right now. One might say they're too similar to each other but I find this argument very pointless.

That's why I don't understand this argument. I remember reading this opinion that they can't play /w each other because there too similar. And I was like whaaaaaaaat?

Think they would create a great pairing. Injuries are the problem though... and it's really a shame because Verm is a top class CB when fit.

I think people say they are similar because they are both short passing CB's who dont fear carrying the ball forward. I dont really see why people dont mind 1 doing it but wont accept both but I think thats it.

They are defensively different but I think (hope) people do already know that.

Verm likes to come out of the backline to win balls. If you remember the Barca-Arsenal game when Ibrahimovic played a great game, we expolited his over eagerness to come come out of the line.

Pique doesnt want to come out from the line because he cant move in space as quickly. I think he prefers to stand off and try and read the through pass.

Pique is actually a worst fit next to guys like this, guys like Hummels, Thiago Silva and Mertersacker.

Verm hasn't been top class ever lol, even when fit he struggles to position himself. Which is pretty much the staple of any decent CB, his early hype at Arsenal was based on his ability on the ball and his goalscoring exploits.

His positional sense has always been awful, the fact he might get away with it for you is more to do with team structure and organisation.

I missed that part. Yeah Verm was never ever top class I 100% agree with that.

Just comparing him to a similar players, at his best he wasnt even as good as current Kos. Who himself I cant regard as one of the best CB's today.

In terms of style he's quite like Luiz IMO, although Luiz gets a lot more shit. ( fairly sometimes)
