BBC are reporting it, it's a done deal.
Chelsea have agreed a deal with Barcelona to sign winger Pedro for a fee of £21m.
The 28-year-old, who was a target for Manchester United, is flying to London to finalise terms on the transfer.
The Spain international is a product of the La Liga club's academy and has scored 99 goals in 326 appearances since his debut in 2008.
He will be Chelsea's second signing in less than a week after the arrival of Ghana defender Baba Rahman.
Welcome, let's hope he does well.

He is replacing JC.
If reus, bale, or whoever becomes avaliable we could still sign him next summer.

I wish! I doubt they will, and it looks like we'll be signing him within 24 hours.

Re: Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma
ESPN FC was told that conversations with former Barcelona teammates such as Cesc Fabregas and Victor Valdes have caused Pedro to reconsider his own first preference. Fabregas enjoyed a successful debut season with Chelsea, winning the Premier League, while Valdes has been marginalised under Van Gaal at United.
Valdes helped Pedro choose

Better than nothing (which was looking not at all out of the realm, up to the last day or two...) and sometimes it's as simple as a few fresh faces coming in to reinvigorate a squad that's looked decidedly stale this season, regardless of whether he's top top class or not.

You have a point, and I said in another thread that Pedro may do well since the lack of technical players in England mean that any player with decent technique looks better than they do elsewhere.
Until I see him play, I remain disappointed.

Re: Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma
tbh he's a hard worker and I remember him playing at FB against PSG in the last game in the group last season and he did very well there, so not surprised Mou was interested in him. His work rate is top notch. The only problems he has is his first touch which has usually been decent and mainly his finishing, which is obviously due to lack motivation (low self esteem kind of thing) under the Pep years he scored vital goals in important games tho.
inb4 we got KO'ed in CL by you guys with Pedro and Cesc

That's true, sometimes you just need a couple new signings to bring new hunger. That said, Pedro has 5 La Liga and 3 CL titles, I doubt he's going to whip the rest of your squad to new heights.

He won't, but the other players will see his list of titles and know they have to work harder in order to retain their spot, regardless of how well he plays.
At least that is what I hope.

Re: Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma
This isnt the type of signing that brings us up to a new level (like Matic did or Reus would), but it creates competition within the squad and tactically gives us a few more options which is a plus.
On the downside, people like Piazon should start looking for new clubs

Cuadrado was suppose to create competition. Look how that turned out.

Re: Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma
That is true, although Cuadrado isn't tactically different enough to Willian to really give us any other options though, at least Pedro will do that by default

Re: Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma
Indeed, I feel he'll be similar to Schurrle in terms of quality added to the team. If he does a better job than Schurrle, I'll be happy with him.

Re: Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma
Barca's official website state that Pedro was purchased for 27 m Euros, rising to 30m Euros depending on performances. Thats max 21.4m pounds. Not too bad tbh. Half the price of John Stones and a similar price to Schurrle. Less than what we paid for willian andCuadrado, too.

Re: Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma
Not really excited about his arrival as I feel he's past his prime despite not being that old. Although Schuerrle and Cuadrado were two signing I was excited for and they didn't work out for us, so maybe my excitement for a signing is not a proper indicator of how well it will turn out to be. Will see.
