Maicon destroyer & Evil Madrid slayer.
A big game player the is decisive in almost every final he plays.
Pain in the ass to any defender and the worst nightmare to ball playing teams.

Injuries and Alexi-loving are avoiding him to be at his top level. We need him to end this season.

He has been poor this season.
Really needs to step his game up.
But his poor form has not entirely been his fault.

Another very bad game by Pedro. He is without a form for a year now, after that injury in Almeria game IIRC he simply sucks. He scored tap-in here and here, but his overall game is terrible. First touch of horse, no chance of dribbling anyone, only pass ball back. free_cat will defend him, but Pedro is out of form for too long. Knowing life he will suck on Wednesday but Messi will create him a goalscoring opportunity and Pedro will score a tap-in and free_cat will write 'fantastic Pedro, better than Sanchez' Very Happy

Our attack is toothless in this season. When will Swagilla come back? I miss Villa, come back Smag Machine. Pedro shouldn't start on Wednesday but due to Sanchez injury he probably will.

I wasnt talking about Alexis.
Pedro hasnt scored goals but how many chances has he had to score goals?
I cant remember him missing glaringly obvious chances.Problem is he just isnt getting any chances which means someone else is making the runs he made and someone else is getting the chances he used to get. Razz

And you will write idiotic posts like this saying that Pedro had a very bad game, like he scored Sporting goal or lost the ball every time in attack. The truth is he was meh, like almost everyone else except Iniesta and Keita (yeah, Alexis-don't-drible-my-grandma was meh too).

Pedro Rodriguez Empty Re: Pedro Rodriguez

Post by alexjanosik Mon Mar 05, 2012 3:26 pm

Let me elaborate further.
Last season here is how we played.Messi as a false nine with Villa and Pedro on either side of him.Villa occupying the space between the RB and RCB and Pedro occupying the space between the LB and the LCB.
Messi drops deep, either Pedro or Viilla makes a diagonal run inside,Messi slips a through ball and baam Pedro or Villa score
.
Season before that,no Villa.Instead the useless flop Ibra.Pedro plays wide left,
Messi plays in the center(Alves bascially occupying the right wing alone) off of Ibra.Ibra doesnt make runs.So its left to Pedro to stretch the defense and he does that beautifully scoring a lot of goals in the process.

Cut to this season. The Catalan obsession with Cesc Fabregas means that the Prodigal son is back and the 3-4-3 is implemented to accomodate him.
Fabregas and Messi play a sort of false 9 false 10 tango.
One drops deep and the other makes the run.Messi drops back,Cesc runs forward and Messi slips him a ball.Fab drops deep,Messi runs forward and Fab slips him a ball.Pedro becomes the forgotten man.
Later on Pep tries more experimenting with Messi as a pure 10 and Alexis as the all action number 9 stretching the defense.Alexis is the one making all the runs and stretching the defense while Messi drops deep.Again Pedro is the forgotten one.

So I can understand why his poor form is not all his fault. Its a mixture of change in formation, change in role, bad timing of injuries and somebody else usurping him at his best quality, his ability to make runs and stretch the defense.

Pedro-Alexis is really becoming Yaya-Busqeuts all over (on a smaller scale) again in terms of forum reaction and discussion.

Needs to get back his confidence....I treat this guy like a striker,so confidence is clearly a huge part of his game.

Big matches coming up in the summer where he'll be needed. He can suffer until then.

With a few key differences dani. The Busquets Yaya debate was split down the middle. Some preferred Yaya, some preferred Busquets.Right now, barring free everyone agrees that Sanchez is the better option right now.
That said,I still think Pedro can regain form.We just need to play in a way that enables him to regain form.
That means Sanchez stops being the all action 9 who stretches the entire back line, moving horizontally and vertically.
We play like we did last year.Sanchez on the left cutting in like Villa used to and Pedro on the other side. One or the other making diagonal runs when Messi drops deep.

Well yeah, its not the same but what I mean is there seems to be two groups, each of whom have members of speak negatively about the opposite player and rarely, if ever speak positively about him.

I think it's only a matter of time before he starts banging them in again, but theres no doubt at the moment he's out of form.

The new Bojan! Pep has lost faith again. This time to one of his favourites, little Pedrito.

We all kept saying give Bojan a chance too. Give Jeffren a chance. Give Fontas a chance. A bit different with Pedro... but hey... I don't know what to think.

I think it's most definitely a mental problem. Something I've noticed is that whenever we've gotten an unfavorable result most of the team publicly states something like "The league is still within our reach" or "we can come back from this result" whereas Pedro is always less hopeful and says things such as "we're a little f*cked" and "it's near-impossible". Granted, Pep said similar things, but I'm pretty sure Pep said different things within the changing room. Pedro speaks as if he's one of the least confident members of the team.

A loan with Fontas maybe? Gain some confidence with other club and fit form and come back to Barca with that form?

Crushed by injuries, Pep and preferences for other players. hmm Sounds like Bojan!

Optimist: He comes back good next year.

Pesimist: We sell him... or we keep him and further make him into the 2nd Bojan.

I can see him performing well because in his mind he knows the coach doesn't prefer him over other players. I thing I like about Pedro is his work effort on the pitch and at training. He will be desperate to get a spot. Like Afellay and Villa, he needs another season and a good one otherwise he will be useless and he won't attract too much attention from other clubs

Heheh, good one, but it's not mine off course.

If it was mine, the Chelsea one would say "Wtf, where is Pedro". Playing Cuenca vs. Chelsea was a good idea and he had a good match.
