Good win though we gave Inter too much leeway in the 2nd half. Also, i haven't seen anyone say it but Montolivo was sublime, did a fantastic job protecting the back 4 as well as recycle possession.

The problem is, what would be De Jong's role if Montolivo is preferred as the anchor?

I think NDJ is undisputed in that role after his showing in recent seasons, you have to keep in mind that Monty just came back from a long injury layoff + niggling injuries beforehand. I don't know if Sinisa is going to play him at LCM/RCM, he hasn't show any intention to. But for Monty right now, i think he has to focus on getting back to 100%

Ely and Honda have been really impressive this preseason. Especially Ely who looks really composed on the ball and is a capable distributor.

Bacca and LA were so much better than Niang and Matri. If we had Ibra in behind them that would be an incredible front 3.

bacca and adriano aside im not impressed with signings. we need more quality midfielders.

bertolacci has shown nothing at to convince me that he is a top midfielder

If we enter the season with this midfield expect EL if we're lucky, a similar season to the one that just passed if we're not.

Good first 45minutes from us against Madrid with Niang being the best performer alongside Antonelli and Suso

Ely, De Jong and De Sciglio were solid as well with Bertolacci our worst performer

Ely has been amazing in all matches i've seen, amazing ball playing skills,, can bring the ball out of the defense, not rash in defense, knows where to position himself, i think we have a hidden gem. Though, i'm still reluctant as i want to see how he copes in real matches but so far very promising stuff from him

Cerci needs to get the hell out, can't control the ball to save his life, crosses to no one, always offside, average player when he can't use his pace

I share the same sentiments with you on both Ely and Cerci

Ely I think will be a very good back up this season. He looks ready for a first 11 place but I think it will be wise to integrate him into the team slowly. He is the complete package, good on the ball, good positioning, excellent reading of the game and an excellent aeriel ability

Niang has matured so much from the headless chicken of years past. He can be an excellent player coming off the bench for us this season

I have rated Ely for a long time. He showed great talent on Primavera. It will be amazing if he can nail himself as a starter. Even if he flops there is no way he can be worse than the dross we suffered through like Zapata and Paletta.

Completely agree.

Monty & NDJ should both play at the same time when the season starts. They are by far our best 2 mids.

I agree they are our best two mids but Montolivo doesn't look as good playing RCM

Unfortunate that Donnarumma was the one to stuff up, but that's penalties for you. I hope we don't send him off to some feeder club a la Darmian, etc. Donnarumma is 6'5'' tall and only 16 years old.

I'd like to see more of Calabria and Ely in the upcoming season. Mexes, and Zapata are unsure in defence, Alex is just plain slow and Paletta isn't good on the ball.

Donnarumma will be sent on loan at some point. He's still so young, and we have Gori and Gabriel ahead of him

Based off what I saw against real madrid.

Mauri, Mexes, Montolivo should not be starting. Literally every time Montolivo touched the ball he made a mistake. Just really poor decision making.

Honda, De Jong, Bacca, De Sciglio all played really well.

It was too bad Bacca missed the chance he had.
