The only thing I'm not too excited about in The Martian is the man behind the camera.

Na sorry, unfortunately not yet. Will watch soon.

I am planning to watch also Miyazaki's other animation films. Watched Spirited Away long long back and it left a deep lasting impression on me. This film therefore kinda helped rekindle the interest in this genre I reckon. Smile

Btw Who else is talking about Song of the Sea ? Very Happy

Jurassic World seems to be dividing opinion between critics. Some think its decent, others are significantly less nice.

8/10 on IMDb from 10k votes and 70% on rotten tomatoes. hmm

And btw, I had totally mistaken Bryce Dallas Howard for Jessica Chastain. Honestly, this whole time I thought Chastain was in the film. Uncannily similar with that hairstyle in the trailer.

Most opinions I've read basically said

"It's a very good action adventure film, but people shouldn't expect any masterpiece from it. It is better than the last 2 JP films though"

And that pretty much sums it up. Going on Monday to watch it. Expecting entertainment. Not expecting award winning worthy writing.

Definitely a 7-8/10 film

The *best* review I've seen of it (as in, nicest) was that it was a fun but forgettable action movie. Many that I've read (on RT and elsewhere) suggest it tried to be the successor to the original and failed quite badly, leaving it feeling shallow and clichƩ.

Jurassic World was fin. A really enjoyable summer flick. Everything it needed to be. People are still comparing it to the original. It's more of a monster film now.

Ezra Miller !!
I was seriously starting to wonder were he had gone after those 2 promising early films of his, PoBaW and the brutal WNTaK

The kid's got serious potential. Joseph Gordon Lewitt kinda potential as a matter of fact. Need to do more notable films though.

Already like him more as an actor than JGL tbh. Would say he's got Gyllenhaal potential. Probably the best in his age range

He is easily one of the.

But then I honestly think JGL is on par with Gyllenhaal. Have you seen his earlier films ? Mysterious skin and Brick and even Lookout for that matter ? Career defining the those performances were. After watching MS he instantly became my favorite actor that time.
But right now true, gyllenhaal, hardy, fassbender and all have given similar breakthrough performances.

And thats why I specifically used JGL. His greatest films so far came during the early phase of his career. You know... in his teens. So that potential factor... same as with someone like Miller.

Seen a lot of films with him. Don't think he's anywhere near Gyllenhaal tbh. Haven't seen him be great yet. He was good in Brick etc. haven't seen him do something real career defining.

okay and Mysterious skin. Have you seen that ?

How can someone say he is not great in this film.
Gregg Araki became one of my favorite director and this film became one of my all time favs. Its beyond great for me. The acting from every actors. And JGL stole the show. He was extemely young when he did this.

Haven't seen that one. Great is not the right part to take out, as I meant more of career-defining role. I also haven't seen him transform yet. His face looks so weird and tight. I really like him, but in no way do I think he's the best of that generation.
I would pick Fassbender, Hardy and Gyllenhaal first from those. JGL is really really good.

Loved him the most in 50/50. Prob his best performance so far. The one where he disappeared the most.

Naa 50/50 and all are nothing compared to his earlier films. Believe me. I am not saying that because I am his fan or anything.
And man you got watch Mysterious Skin. Its in my like all time favorite top 10 films..lol And I have seen quite a decent number of films in my life so far.

JGL plays a teenage hustler in the film. Proud

Right now I agree Gyllenhaal is easily the best young actor out there. But still I at least will place JGL alongside these talented new crop of actors.
