Schalkes second goal basically highlighted everything thats bad about us right now

We are lucky they are crap defensively or we would be out right now

Bale and Arbeloa are the worst players by far in this team, they stick out like a sore fcking thumb

Never been this scared in my life. I was crapping my pants because with the way we are playing right now we could've made mistakes right infront of goal

This was our worst defensive performance since the Calderon era.

The only positive from this match is Modric's return. We looked much better. As if that means something

hmm, to think we almost did a solid impression of ancelotti's "snooze after a strong earlier performance" milan side that threw away a 3 goal leads to depor and liverpool. carlo better toughen up with this team, the guys have been pampered enough, that defense was horrible, its high time bale starts being held accountable, coentrao was terrible (didn't expect anything much from him, he's always injured), what more can i say about arbeloa that i haven't already said, he is crap, the fans that still like him do so cos of his feud with iker....speaking of iker messed up twice, uve got the starting spot, don't snooze in goal....he came through for us later though, khedira's mind is elsewhere and has been since he got injured last year.....carlo needs to start being a little firm with these guys, not go full retard but quit over pampering them, it serves no purpose

The problem that is glaring defensively is that Kroos is back to what he was with Bayern on defense (very bad) and Ronaldo obviously provides no cover...  so the entire left side of our defense is exposed because our guys are outnumbered. So guys are caught between a rock and hard place = 1) do they slide over to help 2) if they slide over to help, the others side if left naked.

Midfielders are getting far too much space to pick out the open man too... defense is about ball pressure AND cover. Defense doesn't work without both.

Just a lot of holes right now.

We were unlucky, we just lacked a bit of intensity. We played a professional game. I will not change the 433 and BBC because I believe they played well, Ronaldo scored two goals and Benzema one, Bale played very well too, I mean he scored in two finals last season. Now we will prepare for the game against Levante and then proceed to get assaulted vs Barca. Bye bye

We should be out TBH, horrid performance, I mean WTF has happened to Varane, I know I don't expect much from Arbeloa and Coentrao, but Varane and Pepe in some extend were horrible. Casillas was terrible, Bale should leave, Benzema was meh, back to a kitten once more, Modric and Marcelo should've started the match.

Pepe had to cover for three players tonight. The only one who was always on his toes not making any mistakes.

I don't think you guys appreciate what a massive midfield problem we have, especially with no forward cover.  EVERYTHING gets unbalanced as a result.  When players can't cover their normal zones and can't predict their cover, they start playing on their heels and react as opposed to attack the play...  the result?  Mistakes.  It's unavoidable.

Pepe made plenty of mistakes too...  but it's not his fault or anyone else's.

Until Carlo just accepts that:
1-  Our midfield is unathletic and CANNOT cover the real estate that he wants them to
2-  Because of the above, you cannot play 3 strikers
3-  Because of both above, BBC will expose us
...  nothing will get better.

Football cannot be played at a high level without controlling the middle of the pitch both offensively and defensively...  it's simple but true.

I missed the game, didn't even check on the score during the game because I expected a comfortable win.. When I saw the final score I was shocked

I would like to assume that Carlo says one thing to the press and another thing to his players. Would make a lot more sense that way anyway...

the midfielder combinations were never have much defensive ability. only looks good when everybody pressed and work hard, never rest them and expect them to run the same few months later, lol.

and as expected, bale situation going no where.

LOL don't try to spin this one on us - for us Kroos was just fine 'defensively', considering he isn't a defensive midfielder in the first place and accordingly we weren't stupid enough to play him as one regularly.

Was about to mention something like this - Bayern barely even played Kroos as an 8, they mostly used him as a 10.

I would love for him to learn how to defend, though, would solve so many problems for the NT, so you keep on playing him more defensively!

Kroos is not to blame at all. He is a little timid when players run past him but apart from that he presses very well and is good at closing down passing lanes. Just like forever our problem is NOT the midfield its the fact that we only defend with 7 players hence team being able to evade our pressing and have players run between our lines freely. We jad the same problem last year but we had an assist maker in beast mode and were scoring regularly. Defensively many many games we struggled pretty bad. This season its more glaring because we find it hard to score and make too many mistakes. I can only find a handful of games last season we made basic mistakes in, its pretty common with us this season

Also OUR PLAYERS ARE BEING OVERPLAYED. Damn even a horse racing fan would know that

carlo and his BS no rotation policy is making its effect i see. Only positive was that after Modric came in we looked far better moving the ball forward and keeping it.

Benzema and Bale were absolute shet. Every single time. Ronaldo single handedly kept us in the tie.

What the hell happened last night? Over the weekend aswell?
