What is your view on these teams

Some teams fights their way into champions league/Europa league place and then when they actually play in that competition they fields B teams or simply doesn't care about the competition. All they wanted was the CL qualification money.

Instead of trying their best in the CL they will again concentrate on their league to finish in top 4. On one side it can be argued that these clubs needs the money and they are doing what they have to do. On the other hand they clearly affects the competition quality and by doing so they are disrespecting the competition.

What teams exactly are you talking about? I think you should be a little more specific.

I think you can't blame teams in the past for doing what they've done as the EL incentive was non existant. Going all over the place, thousands of miles to obscure places to play in a competition you didn't care about that impacted your own domestic league


However it still sucks for the competition. Now the EL has a significant reward, there's no excuse to ignore it.

Well, I can't really compain about this week's EL matches (other than that Gladbach was defeated by Sevilla despite delivering a marvellous fight).

I cant remember the last time a team went into a CL match with their B team ( excluding stuff like injuries)

i don't believe the talk of teams fielding worse teams in champions league, or even europa. i just don't buy it. i don't even buy talk of teams going to europa or champions league to purposely do badly. i think that's just an excuse created by fans and the media when their teams mess up in continental competition after they have bragged about how tough a league their teams play in, only to be brought back to reality and then say "oh we don't care about europa". Teams care, the only reason why it seems they're focused more on fourth place is because its actually realistic and attaining it means getting good results against weaker opponents.

arsenal can lose to giants in europe, like bayern, barcelona, etc not because they field a weak squad (which they don't, they field their best 11 who are healthy, all teams do) but because those teams may simply be better; attaining fourth place isn't limited to beating the top teams, but u have an opportunity against the burnleys, qpr, sunderlands and stokes of this world. you get to face weaker teams who in some cases haven't even smelled what its like to play in europe, u can't compare that with facing elite teams; has nothing to do with teams resting players (which they don't) or xmas breaks

No. Competition in Europe is enough to contest EPL since PL really isn't much better by a large margin. Their league only sits slightly above the rest in terms of quality, atm.
