So Jibers you are basically saying that because La Masia does not produce a world killer per season they are frauds?
No one in the Barca section acts like the La Masia products are going to be GOATs. Most of us understand that the chances of a player making it regularly into the A team are about 5%, or one player every two seasons or so. But that's an impossibly high yardstick to measure by. The fact of the matter is that regardless of which metrics you use to quantify academy success La Masia will be up there with most teams. It's also true that Barca uses consistent styles across the academy to facilitate transition into the first team and that the average Barca fan gets a lot of satisfaction from seeing a youth product debut.

I think Lyon has trumped everyone by a big margin over the past few years in terms of developing top players in its academy...

exactly this. No one can show any evidence of Barca fans crying about a youngster being next "xavi,Messi" or so. its typical GL blame or hatred from other fans who are furious to see Barca academy is used as an example in vast media.

RealGunner wrote:Really hope Sevilla can finish above Atleti. Rather them in the CL. Atleti just makes every match horrible to watch.
Valencia will be a force next year in the CL imo.
Athleti might be horrible to watch but they have the guts to play in CL and go far enough unlike teams like valencia who had been consistently out at the beginning of knockout rounds in recent times. And sevilla, thats a pure Europa League team. i think even if they qualify for CL they will jump into europa right after the group stage.

He's already impressed with the first team.
Rafinha the dude is at the same level as Sergi Roberto don't insult our youth like that.
Come back to us when you produce someone at Parejo's level let alone the better players we have produce who are playing for big team. Only that journy man is doing good and thats after going all over Europe and failing until he finally found a Club at his level

Sergi Roberto is also a good player. That Rafinha-Roberto midfield completely demolished Elche in the Copa del Rey so they are more than decent enough to become good players for midtable clubs. In fact Rafinha can become a Barca starter if played in advanced positions. The problem with him is that for some reason Coachessi pairs Rafinha with Iniesta most of the time in midfield which is like playing James and Isco together in the middle in 4-3-3. It can't end well.
Parejo? LOL Uninjured prime Thiago Motta and prime Arteta >>>>>>>>>.
Once again you guys are making the error "not Barca material = academy overrated". To make it at a top 3 club like Barca you'd have to be a special talent like Marquinhos, Varane, Verratti, Thiago, Neymar. No single club academy can consistently produce that. Most big clubs aren't even producing midtable talents like Sergi Roberto. While even Barca's frauds at worst make it at Arsenal (Arteta, Bellerin, Fabregas).

Re: La Liga 2014/15 Discussion N. Tres
Sure. Who is better than him? Prime Varane pre knee injury under Mourinho for sure. But he has his best days behind him now. Laporte? No way. Totally overhyped. Mangala? Zouma barely plays, can't rate him. Marquinhos #1 CB talent for me as of now.
Actually it's quite annoying that PSG have all these Barca DNA talents like Verratti and Marquinhos.

You really think that Marquinhos is better than Varane ?
Sports might have an unbiased opinion on this since one is french and the other plays in the french league . Pending...

Re: La Liga 2014/15 Discussion N. Tres
Talent wise Marquinhos was always special, he just struggled for consistency due to inconsistent game time etc.
Now he's able to do so, anyone who saw him consistently at Roma knew he had the talent to be very special. I mean he looked good under Zemen lol, not many defenders do that.

You know that Marquinhos is special because even conceding 250 goals in a season with Roma did not ruin his reputation, but in fact actually enhanced it.

Hardly his fault tbf, can put prime Nesta in that situation and the same thing happens. He prevented it from being a lot worse though.
The fact despite all that he was extremely impressive says a lot.
