Puskas Award
Re: FIFA Puskas Award 2014
Guess I'm in the minority that thought Kasami's was the best. I'd say that or Sato, really a toss up for me.

Re: FIFA Puskas Award 2014
Seriously that Stephanie Roche goal? It was nice, but part of this is supposed to be a nice goal where the stakes are high and that did not seem like a particularly pressing environment...
Was going to vote for James but Sato's is a rich man's James goal.

I knew nothing could change my vote when I saw Ibra score that goal live.

I personally would have chosen Ibra's volley against Anderlecht but I'd like to see him retain it anyway. Kasami edges it for me though.

How dare you? The environment was so pressing that the cameras exploded, and they had to call up McGyver to put something together, using straws and a coconut.

Re: FIFA Puskas Award 2014
extremely surprised at how underrated Cahill's goal is.. It was in the World Cup, with his weaker foot, and hit with perfect technique/timing.
from a player's pov considering the difficulty of that volley, i would say that goal wins by far. if I were biased i'd say Zlatan but i have to say Cahill's goal was really incredible.

Re: FIFA Puskas Award 2014
Cahill's strike certainly was extraordinary, however I think the fact that it's a single hit as opposed to a goal such as James' where he had to control, turn and then hit the volley works against him.

Re: FIFA Puskas Award 2014
That is a good argument, but for me the fact that it was a first time hit makes Cahill's goal even more special. James' goal was fantastic, but he got to take a touch (albeit a great first touch) before ripping it with his favored foot.

Voted for Stephanie's goal. Out of all the goals and all ten were just awesome, that one got me off my chair. Beautiful two footed control and the volley.
Fabian's goal was just Totti like in all its majesty and disrespect-fullness.

It's quite a valid point you raise. I think one of the great things about this year's selection is that there is no clear winner, there could be few complaints if any of them won, perhaps Van Persie aside. Compared to some previous years in which one goal is clearly going to win, it's a nice situation to have.

Difficult to choose, but I voted for James. Sato and Kasami were amazing as well. I think they'll end up giving it to James or Ibra.

No clear cut best for me, but I'll go with Hamez just because it wasn't scored in some scrub league/competition..

The Guaardian published a nice list of goals that missed out: http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/nov/13/fifa-puskas-award-2014-alternative-shortlist-20-goals

Holy sh*t! Everyone seen that goal by Perez of Torino vs Juve? One of the best goals I have seen, he ran literally the whole field and that great shot in off the post, must be in contender for next years?
