Skrtel out for 3 weeks.
I guess we'll finally see how Lovren-Sakho will work out

If it forces Lovren to switch to the right side, making way for Sakho, then great!*
Sakho not making the starting XI has been such a waste. Serisously... It's as if no one in the LFC management staff watched the world cup. His performances for France were imperious. Granted, he has not yet shown that in the red shirt, but the transition from France to England and several injuries ensured that his opportunities were somewhat sporadic and disjointed. Morevoer, he was paired with a defender that likes to play on the back foot (Skrtel) and who is not known for his vocal qualities. Pair him with Lovren (a front-foot defender and a notoriously vocal defender) and you could have a very different outcome.
If Lovren can figure out the right-sided positioning and sort out his head following his personal performance against City, this could be the beginning of a beautiful partnership.
*Obviously, I'm not happy that Skrtel is injured, merely pleased with the result it's had on the teamsheet.

If Lovren can't play the RCB position what the hell was the point of buying him?
I'm sure he can and tomorrow he will line up there with Sakho at RCB.

Lovren-Sakho is our ideal partnership and what we all (or most of us anyway) expected heading into this season after Lovren was bought. Hope they can really impress. They both like to push up so having Manquillo and Moreno will help.

I was under the impression he would be fit, as well. With the International break next weekend, he should have plenty of time to build up his fitness ahead of the Villa game.
In other news, Balotelli starts!
As my post above suggested, I didn't think he'd come straight in to the starting lineup. However, his mere presence brings back something close to the "fear-factor" that we had last season. The sight of Balotelli and Sturridge lining up across from them will have the SPurs defense sweating before the match starts. Is that a guarantee that we will win? Of course not. But it's never a bad thing to get inside the opposing defenses' heads before the whistle even blows.

Gerrard is f**** poor today, also Lovren, that RCB position in Liverpool, f** Skrtel made it contagious for other people too

Not sure what Lovren was doing going for the header vs Adebayor that let Chadli throughSakho had that covered.
Gerrard's passing has been woeful today.

A few shaky moments in defence indeed, but what about that Jordan Henderson... our goal was all down to him. First being involved in winning the ball back and then making a relentless run up the field and squaring it perfectly for Sterling... I just don't see Allen making decisive runs like that, probably not Can, either, or any of our CMs. Just a fantastic piece of action by Hendo that was.

whenever we defend like this we tend to perform little better defensively because of extra little protection from our CMs. Other than that what we need is a consistent CB partnership, that's all. There was even more mis understanding between our CB today

Re: Tottenham vs. Liverpool: Aug 31 (Sunday)
Just got back from the pub. Get in lads. What a win. Mario and Moreno Sakho and Lovren partnership is gonna be boss. Way way better than Skrtel being there. There are things to iron out still but Manquillo and Moreno will be and should be our starting fullbacks for the season.
Mario was fantastic today. Interchanging play, tracked back, had chances, worked hard. Took pressure off Studger and Raheem.
Lazar
Gerrard and Allen has pretty poor games though. I know Allen got the pen and Stevie converted it but overall they were meh. At home I would hope either Lallana or Coutinho are the third CM and not Allen.
Can
Mignolet
Sterling should've scored that amazing run ffs. What a goal that would've been. And Balo should've had at least one.

Balo could have scored at least 3. No mention of Henderson despite him easily being MotM IMO. He was everywhere and the first goal was all him. What a player.
Sterling if he scored on that run wow. How did he get off such a weak shot lol.
Also no surprise that you take Skrtel and Johnson out of the side and suddenly there's a clean sheet. Hopefully this opens Rodgers' eyes.

guys pls stop this knee jerk with clean sheet...skrtel and GJ probably have their bad days but today sakho-lovren were nothing special, it was just that spurs had a suck day in attack, that adebayor and Chadli couldnt finish their chances

Balo's work rate to go back to our own half on the defensive side really impressed me.

Is Balo not 100% fit? Did he have a pre season? He did well trying to track back and what not, but at times he was just walking. He should of scored last night though, still a decent debut.
Don't see why everyone is having a boner over our clean sheet, yeah it was good, but a clincial attack would of scored last night against us, as our CB pairing didn't seem to solid.

He wasn't lazy yesterday. Worked his ass off. He was walking at times just like Sturridge every time it was one of their turns to play up top for a period.
And yeah Mr-r he's not 100% match fit yet, Rodgers himself said so. The international break should do him good in terms getting up to fitness.

Re: Tottenham vs. Liverpool: Aug 31 (Sunday)
We play SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better with 2 strikers.
Henderson MOTM. He really likes playing against Spurs.
Sterling should be our number 7 next year.
Balotelli is GOAT. He'll start scoring freely when he's match fit. Very unlucky last night, although he probably should of scored at least one. Signs are there though, he'll replace Luis Suarez. Give him 1-2 years, and he'll reach that "GOAT" level himself.
Sturridge is looking good but his finishing has been off. 2 goals in his last 9, he needs to compose himself infront of goal. Still think he has like 30 goals or something ridiculous and he reaches his 50 appearances mark in his next game iirc. Not too shabby.
Still shaky at the back. Lovren ffs.
Skrtel getting blamed despite not being on the pitch. Laughable.
Moreno looked good. Let's hope he's consistent.
Allen's dive won us a comfortable 3 points.
Oh, and Gerrard played injured last night. Or was hurt in the first half. Why'd he see out the game? He's 34 years old ffs.
