Klopp’s First Date
So away at Tottenham will be the first match under Jurgen Klopp. Yes I know the title doesn’t sound much like a match thread, but Klopp also doesn’t seem much like a football manager, eh?
For the first time in a long time, fans wouldn’t be expecting results. For the first time in a long time fans wouldn’t be discussing; how idle Skrtel was in closing down a gap, how long Emre took to release a ball or how ponderous Lallana looked. Hell, people might even start finding positives in Lovren or Allen; but that might be a long shot. All that the fans will be judging is, if we played like a bunch of rabid dogs. Because when that happens, chunks will inevitably follow.
Which bunch of players will run out into the field will depend on, in what shape the players on international duties return and the recovery of Coutinho, Firmino and Benteke. Frankly, I don’t expect any major inclusion or exclusion from the team that played in the Derby Game. However, I do expect a few thousand vociferous away fans, sticking in till the final whistle.

Re: Klopp’s First Date
One thing that is definitely nice to think about is that Klopp plays a much more direct style than Rodgers which means we should be able to capitalize better on transitional play (the easiest time to score). A really bad habit that our team seemed to fall into especially as Rodgers' tenure started falling apart was that they took far too long to create or attempt to penetrate in the final third which allowed other teams too much time to set up defensively against us. That was the real reason for our lack of goal scoring after Suarez left and Sturridge got injured.
I doubt we will see the same kind of indecisiveness and slow-play in the final third under Klopp, even if it means losing the ball a bit more.
I'd like to see us set up like this:
If Ings is not ready then Lallana, Ibe or Origi.

Not a bad shout.
TBH, I think a lot may depend on Benteke and Ing's fitness. He could be an option in the wide-forward role that Klopp likes to use. However, if Benteke is fit, then I could see Benteke starting as the 9, with Sturridge in the wide-forward role.
I would, however, be surprised to see Lucas start. I simply can't see Klopp fancying him for his pressing style. I just think Lucas is too slow and one-dimensional for Klopp's liking. I would bet on Allen starting with Henderson out.

I think Milner will be paired with Emre/Lucas with Lallana/Ibe/Origi playing wide.donttreadonred wrote:Curtinho wrote:I'd like to see us set up like this:Mignolet

Hey y'all, what's up? I'm back from a 7 day trip to Italy, I heard the good news there. I'm much more confident towards the end of the season now but we shouldn't expect too much this season, let's give Klopp all the time he needs to build a team he wants. Can't wait for next summer's transfer market.

Tottenham v Liverpool
All right, the international break is behind us and as the weekend approaches, we can look forward to seeing our beloved Liverpool in action again.
It's usually always a big game in regards to those European spots against Tottenham. Of course, what makes it special (or normal?) this time is that it's the first game in charge for our new manager, Jurdan Klopgers. He's obviously had almost no time to work with the team yet and many of the players have been away on international duty, so can't expect to see his impact yet. Hopefully the players will look up for it, hungry to impress the new gaffer. We'll see which XI he shall field!
As for injuries, Henderson remains sidelined and apparently Firmino is still recovering from his back injury. Benteke is a doubt. Got no info on others.
Would be great to start our new era with a win after 3.5 years of Rodgers and there's a lot of excitement in the air, but probably better not to expect too much too soon. One thing's for sure, though: the eyes of English football are very much looking towards Merseyside right now

Re: Klopp’s First Date
Well, with what we have available it'll be really interesting to see how Klopp lines us up. Will he go with a 4-4-2 or the 4-2-3-1 that made him famous? Or something different altogether? He is preaching defensive stability, so I think it'll look something like this:
Lots of energy on the field and with guys like Firmino, Henderson and Benteke unavailable. Moreno and Clyne can easily overlap with guys like Milner and Lallana who take tracking back seriously, as well as supporting the forwards. Milner and Lallana can push up as well in attack to form that 4-2-3-1 shape (although more of a 2-4-3-1 in attack with how aggressive the fullbacks can be).
Looking forward to seeing how he transforms the mentality and performance of the team on the pitch! Really excited to see how the transition game changes under Klopp.

Re: Klopp’s First Date
So Ings and Joe (though he wasn't expected to start in this one) joins the long-term casualty list along with Henderson and Flanagan. Firmino and Bently also ruled-out for this one as well.
I'm expecting,
I'm expecting,
Mignolet
Clyne-Skrtel-Sakho-Moreno
Milner-Emre
Lallana-Coutinho-Origi
Sturridge

Re: Klopp’s First Date
Dont think Skrtel is the same guy who could cut it in a 4 man back four.
Also really hope we can win this one regardless of how we play as it would instill fear into the opponents considering most of them are already fidgety that we have Klopp.
