It's quite sad really, a lot of players are wasted due to it.

it works better if at least you have one of your widemen bombing the box, but that's not going to happen when you have Brahimi on one side trying to dribble and being crap with runs, and on the other, Quaresma doing exactly the same thing.

Torres is incapable of attacking the box, and neither are any of their CM/DMs. 0 movements in attack = boring football.

Lille are looking equally bad at the moment, their game for CL place will be a borefest, although, with so much space at the back for porto, origi could shine.

Portuguese league is an A+ league.

Jupiler league is better imo

While we are discussing this I was looking at Cisse's goals when he joined and the themes I noticed where....

Attack with pace, lots of through balls and crosses etc etc and the end result was Cisse with hardly any defenders around him.

That's not a coincidence IMO, I think the same can be said for Martinez to an extent.

It can be said for many CF scoring goals, fast paced football with direct balls going into the box make is what center forwards prefer. There are very few who thrived in teams where the ball moves slowly, Ibra and messi come to mind.

Gonna be watching a lot more Russian league than I have in the recent past. Used to watch like every game from like 2002-2008

Unreal league agree. DAT Edinburgh derby. Dem Hibs who can't even make laugh of Hearts  ( basically relegated by months so no surprise) because they relegate in play off after having won 0-2 the first match away

Russian League is not so awful as many thiink anyway . The football basically is offensive that league in that league and there is also much balance  for the victory.
On paper just Zenit should walk there, but indeed the league is often open , there are   organized team as Rubin Kazan, there is CSKA, Spartak , Lokomotiv, or you can see Dinamo buying Valbuena ()
Anyway the Russian teams sucks in Europe , in last years

If Rangers are back, it's time to watch SPL again.
