James to flop?
It's not as much of a knee jerk reaction as some people will think it is, but rather a logical prediction. My reasons are that he was simply a unneccesary purchase to begin with, and he doesn't suit our team the way Di Maria does. I'm not even sure he is better than him. Now that Di Maria won't get sold, I can't even see him start over him.
Such a shame. 80 million just for the bench. We're honestly ruining football at the moment. Florentino needs to be replaced. Simply because he is not a true football purist and his unnecesarry impulsive buys to fit this Galactico theme is idiotic and waste of money. We could have changed a countrys life with 80 million ffs.

Re: James to flop?
This thread is a knee jerk, he just had his first official match for us and was nervous throughout the game.
James will not be a flop but i feel he won't be able to justify his hefty price tag, don't get me wrong he's a talented kid but some people expect him to deliver a Messi-esque performance in every matches for us.

Re: James to flop?
Damnit this section has lost it. You all are retarded.
How can this be a kneejerk when I already explained Di Maria is better?
I already explained that if Di Maria no longer is being sold, 80million will go to the bench because Di Maria fits our team better and is a better player?
Instead you feed into your delusions like you always do. *bleep* idiots. Dont bother responding if your response is only kneejerk. Because honestly then you have no idea what a prediction is and how you can compare players and know how a season will go down.

Re: James to flop?
IMO he is too good to flop. Sure he wasn't needed and you could have spent the 80m elsewhere but Madrid have always been like this. You should be used to it now. But I don't think he will flop
The most important thing to consider is how he is going to be used. Today he was played as a LCM in a 4-3-3/4-1-4-1 or a CAM when you switched to 4-2-3-1. I don' think he will work in every game. But he will work in most games. In big games Carlo will change things around because the pivot of Kroos-Modric is too light unless James develops a deeper game. The point of buying James would be to have more options I assume. You can now make a 3 man mid, 2 man mid, 4 man mid. It's all there for Carlo to use.
James is suitable in most positions as long as the game is ahead of him. He will thrive as a CAM but he won't be as good as a CM when he has to chase the game. But James go in the same category as Isco. Isco started poor because he had no proper role and was bought due to the same reason as James, however Carlo developed Isco and made him into a much more accomplished player. Towards the end Isco was as important as anyone. That's why I don't think James will flop because both his talent and Carlo's talents won't let that happen.
You just have to accept him mate. I rate Di Maria higher than him. But there is nothing you or me can do about that.

Re: James to flop?
1. Your thread title doesn't correlate with what your saying at all. It's vague and basically used to just get a response.
2. This thread is a kneejerk. What are you basing your prediction on? The games James played at Porto? The games he played at Monaco? Or his play at the World Cup? Or this one Super Cup game?
Seriously, what are you basing your critique of James on? You didn't highlight anything that indicated you've watched him play often.

Re: James to flop?
the fact is Florentino has to recoup some of the money he spent on james and kroos so players have to be sold.
i dont think he will let 70 mil di maria sit on the bench to be sold for 25 mil in the winter.
if there's anything we learnt from todays match is that khedira and di maria will be sold

Izzy, I like you. But read my post bro.

RG good post but he is a flop to me if we spent 80m for a sub. I don't even think he will get many games because our team is better with Di Maria. Like you said, Kroos-Modric is too light and needs someone like Di Maria next to it much more than it needs James.

Re: James to flop?
Someone is going to have to pay the price,it's going to be either James or Di Maria.I expect James to be this season's version of Isco, Carlo will eventually realize that Angel is needed on the 4-4-2 because James just can't fill in the left side role,he's not that versatile/hard worker type of player.
Then there is the obvious issue which is Modric or Xabi having to give way to Kroos.

Re: James to flop?
James is too good to flop. Despite being nervous, his second half was a lot better than the first.
His link up play and distribution was great. I don't see him flopping he isn't some scrub that got lucky and ended up in Madrid.
And is Di Maria staying? Is that official now?

Re: James to flop?
A little bit early for this but lets remember he is adapting to a new position just like Isco. If DiMaria stays he will probably be a starter so James is gonna have as little time as Isco to adapt and he needs to take it
regarding Alonso, he is very old even he knows he can't start many games and we have 60+ nect season

Re: James to flop?
Di Maria's clearly a better fit for our style and superior to James as a player too.
Still don't understand why we'd pay €80m to ruin something that was already working last season.
Anyway I don't think he'll flop, at worst he'll have a season similar to Isco last season.

I added you to my foe list. And I'd recommend everyone else to do it aswell. Then hopefully he would feel so ignored he would leave this forum. You can ignore him by going to his profile and clicking "Add to foe list"
Back to the thread, my opinion is if we paid 80 million just to have another Isco, it really is a flop. Could have stayed with Isco then, he wasnt that terrible last season.

Re: James to flop?
Flop? I doubt it. Only way he flops is if he's booted out of the Madrid starting XI without getting a chance to adapt.
Will he live up to his price tag? Unlikely given that there's Ronaldo AND Bale in the team who obviously take precedent at this point in their careers. But I think he'll do just fine.

Re: James to flop?
First of all he is nowhere near 80 million good.
second, He is not suited to the position he played and i can see Carlo is going to use him there so he is going to spend much of his time defending and on the wing which limits his abilities.
considering we paid an ****load of money for him and he is supposed to replace Di maria i think he is going to flop. how hard i don't know.

Re: James to flop?
Perez is doing everything he can to improve the club, but Madrid fans never really appreciate anything. Imagine Milan buying a player like James, no matter the price. Their fans would go crazy.
James won't flop because he's too good and better than Di Maria.

Re: James to flop?
wtf am I reading. This chit is hilarious even for you guys
Whether James is good for us or not nothing will be decided now or even this season. He's only played 65 minutes after 5 days of training sessions!!!
It's not like we lost anything either, we won the super cup with no issues so at the very least no one can say that having James hurt our trophy haul
Seriously you guys need to Calma.
Regarding Di Maria he will go imo, no way he stays if he keeps getting the Ozil treatment. Carlo is going to bench him until the transfer window ends and by then Angel will accept any decent offer that comes our way. It sucks it has to be this way but Carlo is used to doing this since his Milan days.
Isco will still obviously have a big role on this team. We'll see how the false 9 experiment goes even though I'm not convinced but it might end up working, at the very least we know that Isco can play great in midfield and we can always see how James does further up the pitch.

I would appreciate it if you wouldn't go around calling people "idiots" if they do no agree with your opinion. There are politer ways to express dissent.

that is a stupid logic.we did not win CL a few months ago with a player in James' position goating.face it, IF Di Maria stays then James was just a luxury buy.Valkyrja wrote:Perez is doing everything he can to improve the club, but Madrid fans never really appreciate anything. Re: James to flop?
Ugh who is "we"? lol
And no we didn't win the CL with a player in "James' position" but we almost didn't win it WITH Di Maria lol.
Without Ramos or Bale (in extra time) who knows whether or not we actually win the CL. If we didn't then 100% Di Maria would have been sold for like 15 million to Roma or something.
