Philipp Lahm Appreciation Thread
Germany 3rd Greatest Captain of All Time.
Current World Best Full Back.
He tackles, he intercepts, he overlaps, he creates spaces, he retains ball, he penetrates, he builds attack, he assists, he even sometimes scores.
If we look back in Football Pantheon; Pele, Maradona, Beckenbauer, Cruyff, and Di Stefano were the general concensus Greatest of All Time. All of them (especially Kaizer Franz Beckenbauer, a Libero) can do much more than just scoring. They create plays and they disrupt enemy's defence by (effective) dribbling. They make the team play better when they are on the field.
The same cannot be said for today.
Nowadays goals are very overrated.

Poor man's Busquets as a defensive pivot. Second best fullback of his generation. Good player.

Underrated player imo. He's ok at DM, but at RB he's undoubtedly the best in the World.

Re: Philipp Lahm Appreciation Thread
Germany had Philip Lahm and Andy Brehme ( Brehme was better anyway ) as fullback in last 20 years
2 fullback impossible to not appreciate for class, tactical intelligence , very complete (both played even as DM ,not all fullback can say it)
Agreed about the fact that Philip Lahm was underrated anyway , or at least he was underrated before of this last golden period of victories... But tbf he was always great.
He deserved to win also with his NT

Weird decision, you'd think he'd stay for the Euro at least... Most likely off field influences.
Best RB I've ever seen in any case though, absolute class act.

Re: Philipp Lahm Appreciation Thread
He certainly has been more consistent than Alves and Zambrotta but he'd come second to Cafu as the best RB I've seen in my lifetime.
Re: Philipp Lahm Appreciation Thread
been my favourite fullback since 2004. and even though all these years the likes of maicon dani alves ramos etc was mentioned as best RB in the world... none of them even come close to consistently performing at world class level for nearly a decade as philipp lahm.
if i were to choose the best fullback in the world for the last 10 years i would pick him anyday over anybody!

One 1 the Best RB I've seen since Cafu. Alves is my favorite but he has been more consistent than him.

Definitely a class act, little with a big heart, intelligent, elegant, all round player. Another legend retires
