Luke Shaw
Shaw signs for United
Manchester United is delighted to announce the signing of Luke Shaw from Southampton Football Club. He joins on a four-year contract with an option to extend for a further year.
Shaw, 18, recently gained his third cap for England and was the youngest player to feature in this year’s World Cup campaign. The left-back has made 67 appearances for Southampton since making his debut in 2012.
Luke Shaw said: "I am thrilled and excited to be joining Manchester United. I have been at Southampton since I was eight years old and I would like to thank them and the fans for everything they have done for me. I want to continue to progress my career and joining United is the ideal place for me to do that. I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life and also looking forward to learning from the world-class players and management at the club."
Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs said: "Luke is a very talented young left-back with great potential. He has developed immensely during his time at Southampton and has all the attributes to become a top player. I am delighted he has joined Manchester United as I believe this is the right club for him to continue his development as a young player and eventually fulfil that promise."

He has a reputation for dithering, hence his 'dithering dave' moniker. Must have been a nightmare for Woodward to work with him, with Moyes being undecided on which targets to go for.

Re: Luke Shaw
Herrera's fee was due to increase on July 1st. I'm assuming that happened last year too, because of the quoted deadline day fee. So Moyes took so long to make a decision not only for one clause to rise (Fellaini) he did it for two (Herrera)?

we may not be having much in the kitty I think now. Or do we ??
60-70 m max will be left if we calculate (from the original 200 m from last season) + the money from player sales.

Re: Luke Shaw
Reports say we want a further CB + another CM so the rest of the transfer kitty should be more than enough and will plug the major weakness in the team. Obviously want a winger, but the front 4 is pretty strong anyway even if someone is ending up playing out of position.

Re: Luke Shaw
yea CB might be Vermealen who can be achieved cheap (10-12) . then there will be enough cash for a wc midfielder (50-55 max) + depay for some 15-20 m (from sales)
and we will be done
and we will be done

Re: Luke Shaw
Confirmed he is out for month.
What is it with defenders at this club always getting injured. Evans, Rafael, Valencia (if we can call him one now) and now Shaw all before the first PL game.
Big blow for us. Reece James is good defensively but attacking wise he leaves a lot to be desired and he's playing LWB not LB so it matters more.

So frustrating. We just can't seem to catch a break when it comes to injuries to our defenders.

Re: Luke Shaw
I thought he had his best game for us against Chelsea. Didn't look out of position at times like he has on occasions in previous matches. And that recovery tackle he made on Willian in the first half
Once the nervousness wares off and he begins to settle down, what we paid will look like a bargain.
Also I liked this quote from him after the game:

Also I liked this quote from him after the game:
Shaw was keen to put the whole Chelsea chapter – he was a boyhood fan and on their books as a boy – behind him. “No, no, no,” he said to the idea that Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw was the best result for his Chelsea-supporting father. “My dad is a United fan now. He’s not Chelsea any more. He is a United fan now and he won’t be too happy because he wanted us to win really badly.”

I don't know mate, if I had a son and he played for Liverpool, don't think I could want his team to do well. LOL.
I'd want him to perform well individually though of course.

Re: Luke Shaw
After watching the Chelsea game, I think he's less at fault, still partly his fault, but not totally, for the West Brom goal. The pressing thing he does is something van Gaal has asked him to do I think, because Rafael does the same thing on the other side. In the end, sometimes your going to lose out so the team has to be organised in a way for them to cover the fullbacks when they press up.
Berahino's mum imo.
She's an Arsenal fan, but she's got a point

Berahino certainly took his goal coolly against United, the team he supports. “My mum was laughing at me, saying: ‘How can you score against your own team!’

Re: Luke Shaw
His quality and the reason why we spent a lot of money was there for all to see today. A monstrous performance defensively from him.
Once he gets better attacking wise, he'll be the best in the league.

“I think it’s time for people to step up,” said Shaw. “The players who are not getting game time, who are frustrated on the bench, can come in for a massive game like Arsenal that everyone will want to play in.

Re: Luke Shaw
That's the spirit
My man love for Luke Shaw is growing with each passing week. He is befitting of every quality United look for in a young player.
Now please be fit to start against Arsenal.
