Norwich City 0 - 2 Arsenal: And so another season ends
Today was a good day. Arsenal's performance was good, Ramsey scored a fabulous goal, Jenkinson scored his first Arsenal goal, which drew loud cheers from my brother and I who have been waiting for Jenkinson to score, Wilshere and Diaby got some minutes on the pitch, and nobody got injured or suspended. For those of you who were hoping Liverpool wouldn't win the league, you got your wish.
I'll have a end of season review-type thread after the cup final next week, where how we view this season will heavily depend on if we win it or not. Until then, let's relax and enjoy a few stress free days.

Only thing that might have made it better would have been if Chelsea also lost, but ohh well. Solid day all around. Very enjoyable goals.

Diaby chants when he came on
Congratz Jenkison on the goal, could see how much it meant to him.

Good win!
Good momentum heading into the final.
So much happy for Jenkinson getting his first Arsenal goal.
All in all, a good day to round out another PL season.

I don't think we've had a player in the last few years who's been so ballsy and daring with his attempts and backed it up like Ramsey. Could argue RVP but most of Ramsey's goals are simply glorious whereas RVP as a striker was given more straight forward chances to finish.
But nowadays when Ramsey's on the ball you can't help but feel excitement at what he'll do next.

loved that Jenkinson got his first Arsenal goal today, but my god his crosses are so bad, must work on it for next season.

It's weird. The game yesterday meant nothing, but the game next Saturday means everything. The contrast is so huge.
A good performance - but for Ruddy, we could have won by several goals.
Ramsey continues his brilliant form, great Giroud assist. Pleased to see Diaby and Wilshere back. Chamberlain back on Wednesday - bar Walcott and Gnabry, could have a fully fit squad for final.

Anyone notice how lively and hungry all three of the substitutes were? I wonder which of them, if any, will play a part on Saturday. Surely Jack..

Jenkinson's deliveries are either pin-point and excellent or utter garbage. In time, I hope he can develop the necessary consistency because he definitely has the ability to deliver a cross.Raptorgunner wrote:loved that Jenkinson got his first Arsenal goal today, but my god his crosses are so bad, must work on it for next season.

I imagine the cup final team would be:
Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta, Ramsey; Cazorla, Ozil, Podolski; Giroud
It's our best available eleven and just about all of them are playing well at the moment. It's also the team (bar Gibbs) that tore Hull apart a couple of weeks ago. Given that they've just come back from injury, Wilshere and Chamberlain should start from the bench, and I just can't see Sanogo getting the nod ahead of an in-form Giroud.

I can see Jack definitely getting subbed on no matter what the score with 20-30 mins left. I wonder if Vermaelen will be if we're winning. He didn't look too thrilled in the promo video and hasn't been in the squad the past two games (West Brom?)
But since he's the captain, should we win, would he not be lifting the trophy regardless of who played?
Hope he doesn't pull a JT..

Traditionally, the captain would lift the trophy, but it's not a rule or anything. Wenger could lift it, or even Sagna.

Fabianski will almost certainly play.
And lets not count our chickens yet. We have to win the final first before discussing who's going to lift the cup.

Yeah, everything to do with that has a conditional placed before it.
And I'm not so sure. David Seaman didn't play one FA Cup match until the final in 2002. Maybe Wenger will let Szczesny get the chance to lay Wembley demons to rest even if Fabianski deserves it. Makes sense because Fab is leaving but Szczesny will be our keeper for years to come, this kind of experience could be vital in big future matches.

Just the way Wenger started Szcz in a match where he could have pipped Petr Cech to the Golden Glove for the season?

Re: Norwich City 0 - 2 Arsenal: And so another season ends
Wenger knew Cech wouldn't play and I guess he knew, in turn, that Szczesny and Cech would both win it (as they did) if he played Fabianski.
Maybe that's why he played Fabianski instead of Szczesny, because he's looking to play him in the final.
Maybe not.

Re: Norwich City 0 - 2 Arsenal: And so another season ends
Is there a clear source other than Wikipedia saying that the Golden Glove was supposed to go to the keeper with less appearances?
I can't see any reason in starting Fabianski other than giving him prep for the final..
