Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
Welp....the draw I didn't want happened but aye, we'll get on with it.
Think Chelsea's biggest advantage is having the 2nd leg at Stamford Bridge.
Simeone plays a style similar to Mourinho's so this should be very interesting.

UEFA said Thibaut Courtois is allowed to play, even if Chelsea will throw a fit!

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
Well thats a relief. If Chelsea blocked him playing would that not really piss him off? Deprive of the opportunity to play the biggest of his life (yet). Not really something you want to do to an exciting young player you want eventually to come replace Petr Cech.

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
Get the f*ck in! Courtois to play
Even though as much as I hope it'll be a decider between the two goalies who wins this tie, the way these two play suggests it won't be an open game and there won't be lots of chances.

Not sure if I am the only one but I think Chelsea will control the majority of the game with the ball, specially towards the end of the first half and then whole second half and that will surely happen if Atletico get an early goal

Atletico could just as easily bench Courtois to keep Chelsea happy, you never know.

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
Chelsea's test will be can they dictate the pace of the game when they have most of the ball.
Atletico will have their spells but I see them putting the onus on Chelsea to beat them.
This tie could fall down to who has the better CF's

They want to keep him for another season. It seems likely they'll agree something with Chelsea in that regard.

Well in that case Chelsea are out then.....
Fifa in 2013:
"As we, in line with the FIFA regulations on status and transfer of players, consider a loan to be a transfer, we do not have any regulations regarding players not playing against their parent club whilst on loan to another club. If a player is duly registered on the player list of IF Elfsborg then he can play against any team that Elfsborg are drawn against."
"Any agreement between the two clubs that this player wouldn’t play against Celtic should Elfsborg be drawn against them is purely between the clubs. UEFA would not have any involvement or consideration of this agreement, it would be neither endorsed or enforceable by UEFA."

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
Mourinho hates being favourites for CL semi finals, so IMO this was the hardest draw Chelsea could have got. Hala Atleti !!

I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea get battered over the two legs, but through due to poor finishing from Atletico and an opportunist goal from Chelski.

@Abramovich
On 27 March 2014, UEFA put resolution XI into action which was signed by all 54 FAs and which gives them the power to enforce sanctions. See the thread about loans.

The player behind the result of that game doesn't play for Atleti any more.
(In fact he now plays in the same stadium that match was held on lol)

Re: Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - First Leg
It means nothing on what happen a year ago between the two sides, this Chelsea team is a much better unified team.
I did not want alti, it's strength vs strength. I give the edge to Alti because of their strikers.
But we have better individual talents. So anything can happen.

Tom
Hopefully Atletico win, cheering them on to win CL and La Liga now.
Would be a fantastic story, although i find it highly unlikely they win either.
But we live in hope.
