How will you use BBC in a 4-4-2?

Also it's only a 4-4-2 when defending mainly. Usually it's a 4-3-3 with Ronaldo moving up front occasionally and Di Maria taking his spot.

Any chance Varane is going to play next leg?
Or is Pepe fully fit?

Re: Champions League: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich discussion
Again we defended as a team again we won. Hope the players get the message
Wonder how Bale and Ronaldo are going to play at the same time next week. For whoever mentioned we are going back to 4-3-3 forget it, thats suicide. Bayern play 5 midfielders and if we play 3 they will outnumber us, last time we were outnumbered we lost 4-3 at home. if we get to the final we can play a 4-3-3 there because we are better than both chelsea and Atleti
the second leg is going to be painful to watch and we really need to score then

carvajal-varane-ramos-coentrao
bale--modric--alonso--dimaria
----benzema----ronaldo-----
bale with more defensive duty?
it's actually nothing much diff, it all depends on role and task allocate.

Re: Champions League: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich discussion
I would absolutely love that line up but is Bale up for the task??? I had doubts about Isco and he proved me wrong here is hoping bale proves me wrong as well. DiMaria's problem yesterday was that he always cut into his left which made it easy to defend against but Bale will probably use his right as well something we have benefited from alot this year.

Bale was a defender after all. I think that Marcelo will play in the second leg

Nah Coentrao will play the second leg after proving his worth in cdr final and last night's game.
I just want Di Maria in the midfield not as RW
Wouldn't mind that lineup Terrance posted tbh.
4-4-2 again eh

It's always been a 4-3-3 usually with Di Maria moving to LW and Ronaldo moving up front occasionally. Defensively we defend with a 4-4-2.
Also Coentrao should definitely start. Bayern will be a lot more attacking and he's better defensively than Marcelo.

Re: Champions League: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich discussion
Ancelotti singled out his team's hard work against Bayern. Satisfied with the victory, but aware that there are still 90 minutes left to play before reaching the final, the Whites' coach stated: “We did a good job. Everyone had a great game. The fans' support was significant, and the atmosphere was spectacular. Our job is to do everything possible to take our fans to Lisbon”.
“We worked well as a unit, the players were unselfish and mentally strong. The team is full of desire, and while we might not play well all the time, the commitment among the squad members is great. The atmosphere is very positive. We need sacrifice, courage, quality and personality next Tuesday. The tie is wide open, we have a slight lead but no one knows what might happen”.
Different periods during the game
“We were a bit too timid at the beginning. We played a better pressing game towards the end in comparison to the start of the game. We didn't cope well with the pressure during the first few minutes. After that, the team began to play together and work a lot better. We controlled the play a lot more in the second half, although we weren't clinical with our chances during the first. We could have scored more, but the same can be said for Bayern. Iker pulled off a great save. Diego will play on Saturday and Iker will play on Tuesday”.
Chances
“The team was really effective during the first half, and created a few clear-cut chances. This side is formidable on the break. It makes sense to counter attack against Bayern. I don't like to concede possession but against some sides it can be more difficult to have the ball. I like to hold onto possession because as long as you have it your opponent can't score”.
Cristiano Ronaldo
“Cristiano put in a great shift, he was completely sure he could play and luckily everything worked out nicely. He wasn't in optimum shape though. Without Bale and with Ronaldo at only 50% it was always going to be tough. Cristiano has done very little speed work over the past few days. The most important thing is that he played to help us. He worked extremely hard and we are happy”.
WE NEED SACRIFICE, COURAGE, QUALITY AND PERSONALITY NEXT TUESDAY.
“Taking Cristiano off was a decision we made before the game. The risk we ran was only applicable if he played for over an hour. He played well, although he wasn't 100%. His performance was full of sacrifice and he'll be playing on Tuesday”.
The game in Munich
“The second leg will be very difficult. We have a slight advantage and will have to play as confidently as we have done tonight. There's no telling what might happen there, but I am confident. We know we'll be made to suffer, but we'll be full of fighting spirit and give it our all, just like we have done today. With the quality of the squad, Real Madrid can beat anyone. This is a very important part of the season and everyone's hard work is helping us pick up good results”.
The defensive performance
“The Pepe injury is a blow. The full backs were excellent. Bayern played a lot down the wings and the defenders worked well together to stop them. Coentrão was very reliable, as he always is. He always gives it his all when he plays. Without making mistakes, playing intelligently and staying focused throughout the game”.

Re: Champions League: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich discussion
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez offered his public thanks, for the effort of the players against Bayern Munich, as well as expressing his pride at the loyal support of the fans.
Appearing at the presentation for the ‘Corazón Classic Match’, which will raise funds for charity and feature Real Madrid against Inter Milan on Sunday 8th June, club president Florentino Pérez took the opportunity to give his public thanks to the players and staff, for their efforts in victory against Bayern Munich.
“I would like to congratulate the players and coaching staff for their huge effort in the Champions League match yesterday. We know there’s still there’s one last effort to make and it’s not going to be easy.”
Having acknowledged that there’s one last push to be made, before Real Madrid reach the Champions League final, Florentino also warmly thanked the fans for their support, both in the Copa del Rey and the match against Bayern Munich.
“I cannot forget our fans either, who urged the team on with their passion, just as they did last week in the Copa del Rey, in the streets of Valencia and in the Mestalla. It’s a huge pride to have such loyal and enthusiastic fans. It was very emotional.”

Tell me a game we have defended with four midfielders using that formation with Bale playing RW. I'll wait

Pretty much every game. Isco/Di Maria play as a hybrid LCM/LW, with Ronaldo moving around from the LW position to the middle.
Then when Isco/Di Maria defend as the LW, Alonso/Modric in the middle and Bale on the right.

Re: Champions League: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich discussion
Bale does not come down and defend. That is the problem
Why do you think Xabi criticised the fact that we weren't defending as a team??? because our defending became so disjointed with only 3 midfielders and defence doing the defending duty. Benz is not supposed to come down and defend but needs to pressure cbs and dms and he has done that very well, we all know ronaldo won't defend but having bale join his club is just too much. I will never forget Iniestas goal at the Bernabeu where the fack was Bale????

I would go with the exact team but Pepe instead of Varane(unless he is injured).
The way Madrid played was that they were 4-4-2 while defending, and 4-2-4 while counter attacking with the shape of
-------Ronaldo-------Benzema--------
Isco-----------------------------Di Maria
------------Modric----------------------
-------------------Alonso--------------
BBC is a lot of risk because Ronaldo is not defensively aware enough to play on the wings. See the CDR final and the 1st leg last night. Both the matches the wide areas were relatively secured because you had players who knew how to track back properly. Ronaldo did drop back when defending but he was nearly always in midfield which wasn't asking much of him.
The only way BBC can work is if you play Di Maria at LCM and ask Ronaldo to actually move towards the centre while Benzema dropping back to form 4-4-1-1. Bale is a hard worker, but the difference between him and Isco is that Isco is comfortable with the ball. Isco wasn't efficient offensively last night but he never lost the ball deep in his half and tried to rotate it around whenever Madrid had the ball.

Re: Champions League: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich discussion
We don't really have to change anything tbh.
This is Bale's first season, he's already a hero to the fans so there is no pressure if he doesn't start. We can just use him as a super sub in the second leg.
If we win then we can play our normal formation in the final.

Re: Champions League: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich discussion
I feel kinda sad for Marcelo. Dude is fit now and definitely a better LB, but barring a major shock, Coentrao will start all the subsequent games from now on. Don't get me wrong, Fabio does deserve it after his Copa final performance, but just sad that Marcelo is sort of missing out.
Do you guys think the outcome would be different with Marcelo instead of Coentrao in the 1st leg?

Marcelo has himself to blame for being overly lazy these past few weeks. He probably thought Coentrao would get injured at the same time like he usually does but he didn't and performed well so we shouldn't change things next week. Marcelo is obviously better but he needs a kick up his arse ala Iker to start performing again

Re: Champions League: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich discussion
Completely agree with RG.
Playing 442 is crucial for our chances and Bale need to be a super sub next game.
I would go with the exact same line up. Even though Isco was shit in bayerns half he was actually good in the defensive works. He is also very good under pressure which is always a positive when playing against heavy pressing teams.
Di Maria's track backing cant be replaced with Bale which is the only reason im against Bale starting. Di Maria was pretty shit with his decision making yesteday btw infact our both wingers had meh games actually only our wingers had meh games yesterday.

Re: Champions League: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich discussion
Understandable, they had the hardest job last Wednesday, the hardest job yesterday and will have the hardest job next week. Don't expect them to look as good as fresh when they have the ball with them spending much of the game chasing the wingers and fullbacks up and down the wing. They were one of the best performers last week and looked exhausted yesterday. Hopefully with good amounts of rest they will be fresh for next week

Bale did track back for the majority of the season, it's just he hasn't been doing it consistently recently.
