Finally watched Guardians Of The Galaxy. For me it was on par with The Avengers. Everyone played their roles perfectly. Drax's reflex line Groot The Mad Titan fantastic job from the cast and James Gunn.

Hate to be racist but the American version is word for word the same just with Black (African American) People and is total shit...
The American version is indeed compete rubbish compared to the English version, but it's not a racial thing. Luke Wilson (one of the few white actors in the American version) is just as miscast as Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence and Danny Glover. I think the real problem with the American version is that they tried to fit all of these actors into roles that didn't suit them. By contrast, the English version uses an ensemble of mostly little-known character actors who are very well suited to the dialogue and storyline.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
The Double starring Jesse Eisenberg.
It is similar to Enemy for obvious reasons in that two lead characters is played by the same actor and the conflict that arises from this.
It's not as deep as Enemy and I would say The Double has more humour to it. It's a fascinating movie, unique directing and I enjoyed it.
Jesse Eisenberg puts in avery good performance.
My rating: 7.5/10

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Ended up watching Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society and The Perks of Being a Wallflower this weekend. Loved them all very much. I know some of them are classics, but I'm glad I waited to watch them up until now. I might have watched Good Will Hunting in the past, but I feel like if I did, I wasn't able to appreciate it as much as I did this time around.

Good Will Hunting is such a fantastic movie.
Though many will watch it again in present day to commemorate Robin Williams (and rightly so), Williams isn't the only artist in the film who suffered from depression and ended up committing suicide. An artist named Elliott Smith composed many tracks for the film and even had an Academy award nomination for the song "Miss Misery". I hope those who watch it in memory of Robin Williams also pay attention to the soundtrack and remember the contributions of Elliott Smith as well.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Went to go see The Giver last night, mostly because my friends wanted to. I didn't really care to go see it, as I read the book as a child and loved it, and didn't want a shitty movie to ruin it. I saw previews and could already tell that the true story was going to be stretched a bit for the sake of Hollywood, and I wasn't quite sure how one would even make a movie for The Giver that did justice to the novel.
After watching it, my preconceptions were mostly true. The movie stretched quite a bit of stuff throughout the entirety of the movie, and especially at the end. This faithlessness to the novel is no doubt to create story elements- like a love affair, and a new major suspenseful conflict point- to appeal to the teenager target audience that was targeted by The Hunger Games and Divergent.
Essentially this is where the movie falls apart. What was an enlightening novel for all ages, though aimed at young adults, becomes a movie with a couple cheesy one-liners, a romantic interest that never existed that looks and feels fake, and a new conflict introduced through the character of Asher that is meant to convey the theme of friendship, but really just makes him look like a weak, contradictory character.
Another thing I felt would be a problem from the start with The Giver as a movie is that the book relies heavily upon the beauty and depth of emotions- it is that this is lost in the society that is so tragic. Is unity and "sameness" worth losing love for? A family? These questions and this premise exist within the movie as they are the main conflict. However, the problem is that movies themselves are not able to convey the emotion of a novel due to time constraints and the fact that it's a visual experience. So when a movie exists based on a kid fighting against a system that restricts emotion, the very fact that the movie itself fails to convey anywhere near the same amount of emotion that the novel does is a bit comical.
The ending of the book is, in my opinion, quite perfect. I remember when I heard this movie was coming out, I went upstairs and read the last 10 pages. Beautifully written, ambiguous, yet...uplifting. More than anything, it is simplistic, and in that simplicity is some of the beauty. Instead, the movie manages to create a feel of a "race against time" (of which I will not go into detail about due to spoilers), a long arduous journey that doesn't exist, and really, only the core of the ending exists. The only nice thing I can say about the ending is that the movie repeats the last lines from the book, and that the last 2 minutes or so very accurately reflect the last page and a half of the book.
Another brief note is that the acting was fairly meh. Jeff Bridges wasn't even that great, but he was better than everyone else. The main character was out of his depth.
I don't want to hate on it forever though, because in the end, I didn't even hate the movie. I've seen many worse movies. What saved a lot of the movie were several different isolated moments of beauty. I did get some rather deep feelings at times watching a couple different segments of the movie- often when transferring memories.
That being said, a 4 out of 10 is probably fair. Maybe 5.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Just finished watching a rather interesting Indie Western called "Sweetwater" starring January Jones, Jason Isaacs, and Ed Harris.
Having now seen this movie, I can confidently say this is the best January Jones has ever looked in anything she's done. That woman is just straight up fit.
As for the movie itself, I've always liked Jason Isaacs' villains and this one was no different. Should've kept the English accent though. American one isn't a natural fit for him. Ed Harris is just a GOAT actor all around and he did carry this movie quite a bit with some of his scenes. I still have yet to not like a movie he's done.
Overall, this was pretty entertaining. Not a whole lot of depth to it, but it is just fun to watch.

Watched Godzilla, Catching Fire and Divergent.
Godzilla : 5 - awful. just awful. very boring first half, non interesting characters and poor fight scenes between Godzilla and Mutos. too short too.
Divergent : 7 - good movie overall. story was a bit cliche.
Catching Fire : 7.5 - very good but the ending was disappointing. i haven't read the books tough.

Catching fire was so many levels above the first. Not even close imo.
Godzilla fight awful? seriously? oh lawd. Which bootlegged version did you watch? Some of the best fight scenes I have seen all year. The atomic breath is soooo amazing.

Yeah, I liked Godzilla too. I thought the cgi was good and I liked the different angles and perspectives that were used to showcase it.
- Spoiler:
- I could have done without the pointless and boring "getting back to his family storyline" and instead wished they went the revenge motive.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Yea agreed with Freeza and elitedam. Personally loved Godzilla. The suspense in it was incredible but people looked at it as slow paced and boring.
The only problem I had it was the forced emotional family drama. That was not necessary.
I didn't think the fight was that short?

I watched it in best quality 1080p. The Godzilla fights in old movies ( despite bad CGI and stuff ) were way more interesting and the opponents were more scary imo. Godzilla's screen time was also short.

Just watched 12 Angry Men... By far the best film I've seen from the 40's or 50's. Sidney Lumet already directed some of my favourite films, but to think this was his directorial debut. Must be the greatest directorial debut of all time, and even though it's in black and white, it still holds up because the storytelling is superb.
5/5 from me.

Finally watched Shawshank Redemption and Good Will Hunting last night.
Both fantastic films and can see why they are rated so highly.
I liked Good Will Hunting more though. Maybe because it was more relatable or maybe because I am a big Matt damon fan. He was absolutely incredible in it. His speech to the NSA guy ffs.
9.3/10
ShawShank redemption was fantastic as well. A great tale. Although I kept thinking Tim Robbins looks like Bruce Willis throughout. Great film

Watched Rounders and The Rainmaker
Rounds was alright. Poker movie so all the poker stuff went over my head but it was entertaining enough to watch it all.
6.5/10
The Rainmaker was very good. Entertaining eventhough predictable and often unrealistic. But it was quite good to watch and Matt Damon was excellent in it.
